I do like your sense of humour. I'm saying; Earth is very special not because life cannot exist elsewhere, but because WE cannot exist elsewhere. But all we need is, as you've pointed out, a meteor falling on us and everything changes. I'm not afraid of that eventuality, though this is a very real danger. I believe God had a purpose when he created humans and is capable of protecting Earth from these elements of destruction, indefinitely. What happened in Jurassic era was for a purpose.
@darinka7701 life cannot exist elsewhere? are u sure?do u have evidence?we are primitives in space. We went only to the moon , wow ! give the scientists a break ! they are scanning the sky and searching for ET ! we found more than 500 rocky planets like earth!&remember that we are still searching within our galaxy and there are infinite number of galaxies out there !what makes you think you are alone in the universe? and please stop believing in a god and that earth is a test.u have no evidence

@heroman99622 You're an idiot. You're probably one of those people that failed to answer, correctly, the question about which ways more, a pound of feathers or a pound of iron. 13 million tons is still 13 million tons no matter what it is comprised of.
@nonennify you dont get what im saying.... gas is tiny and wieghs less, im saying imagine the size of the cloud of gas, that would make 13 million tons. just like a pound of iron is small, because its denser, while the pound of feathers would be larger, because its less dense.
@BobbyRossRacing93 If you did your studying on 2012, you would now that we would need to leave the solar system (2012 is when the sun is supposedly suppose to go through a sun cycle which will cause to shrink and inflate at rapid paces either disentigrating us or freezing us to death). Sadly though at where were at right now, it would take 120 yrs or more to leave the solar system... so if 2012 really does come true (i'm not really a supporter) were all screwed.

@jclu5293 Hi-- I would suggest doing your undergrad work at a university that has a physics/astronomy dept that offers research or coursework in instrumentation or optics-- and that may coop with their engineering dept. Then do grad work at a university that has funding or resources from NASA for building these instruments. Google is your friend in researching what universities offer these programs. Good luck!
One week before 2012 they should launch one more Shuttle with like 14 other people 7 girls 7 guys. and if 2012 does come true. they shall find a safe place to land after the events take place :D

Oh, and by the way, if it wasn't for NASA, half of your daily routine wouldn't exist today. Cell Phones? Nope. GPS? Don't even try. Weather Tracking? Only a dream.
we may be in a "financial recession" but we're still in an age of intellectual revolution! Ten years ago we only knew when these storms hit, now, we can map them across a solar system!
@SlightyDisturbedNBK Are you kidding? Anyone who operates even a single satellite should be concerned about this. This means all kinds of private companies (most notably telecommunications) and government organizations (such as the national weather service) benefit from this kind of research and observation (these all benefit economies). And I'm only pointing out the obvious. Solar activity has also played a role in knocking out power grids (which has an even larger impact on economies).
@SlightyDisturbedNBK Newsflash: we will NEVER get around to doing it then (in your philosophy that things require "money" to exist in order to be done). If there was no debt, there would be no money. Without money, there would be no debt. It's quite obvious, as long as we're using interest-based monetary economics, the amount of debt will ALWAYS surpass that of the actual amount of currency in the global economy at any one time.

@AubriGryphon What I think you're saying is; life can survive the most inhospitable environments, so there is hope. I'm thinking; of what benefit is it to any of us that some simple cell organisms continue to exist when we are all gone. We are talking here about intelligent life on Earth, as we know it. Darwin was an extraordinary scientist / biologists but he got the thing about God all wrong. Even he realized this before he died, so why can't the rest of the world?
@darinka7701 Ah, so you're starting from the assumption that Earth is special and designed for life.
