Dude, get your facts straight. There was no contact/coercion of the octopus, it was freely moving when the video was shot. This was part of an ongoing territorial/female dispute, which we had watched for some time, so there was no "disrespecting space" or "chasing", this was filmed from a respectful distance. Octopii when stressed by a divers presence will either jet off or hide, not continue their activity as he did!

Order Teuthida (squid): 10 appendages, 8 arms and 2 tentacles (longer than the rest), toothed/hooked suckers, fins on body, long tubular body, lives in open ocean. This was filmed in the caribbean, about 6-8m deep; caribbean squid are small free swimming social animals, looking nothing like an octopus. QED it's an octopus....

@sameshitdifday Thanks for this, I feel we're making progress as this is the first comment you've made without an expletive, which is good news. Obviously there are variations within species (eg not all horses look the same or have the same dimensions etc), but those variations wouldn't include cows, which might look a bit similar from a distance and might also be found in the same field eating grass, but are in fact a different species. Same principle can be applied here.... its an octopus

@sameshitdifday Unfortunately you appear to be as rude as you are ignorant, not a great combination. When you've managed to read a book (or looked at the pictures if reading is too difficult), you will realise the morphological characteristics of squid and octopii are quite distinct. Octopii can change colour and more importantly shape, and the "cone" shaped body shown in the video is a way to intimidate the other male (as is the colour change).
