Giustamente hai la ragione,ma"le petit manque de tendresse" puoi "sentire" soltanto durante un spettacolo dal vivo.E poi durante le sue recite Pendachanska aveva una stupenda voce...
Saw her as Lucia in Dublin about a year later than this recording - she gave a stunning performance, even if her voice was a little unstable at times. I am not surprised she has done such wonderful things in recent years, particularly in the recordings with Rene Jacobs. I am surprised that she has not received the sort of acclaim which singers such as Netrebko and Fleming receive - I reckon she is is superior to most other sopranos performing today
Interesting!!! I remember one CD of her when she ACTUALLY was in her 20's and it was really a singing of an incredible musician. The technique wasn't very stable but the musicianship was EXTRAORDINARY. She was my idol. I am really sad to hear this drive gone...:( And guys, really, here SHE IS NOT 20!
The only time I discovered her was watching the DVD of Roberto Devereux and what a lovely queen she was in!!! Did not realise she was so beautiful at 20! WOW... And what a lovely voice and no wonder they are call diva!
E poi "Capuleti", "Devereux"... Meravigliosa cantante, ottima in scena.
Ah, you are right, nothing is like seing singers from close sight...It's very different from just arguing from the chairs in the theater, coldly. She has fire in her heart and gives it when she sings...
no no no...:)Her mother is Valerie Popova...I havent heard of Alexandrina being Ghena's pupil...anyway it is possible ...I watched interview with alexandrina saying a funny story about how she sung to her mother for the first time..Alexandrina was really ashamed of the idea of singing to her mother so she put a performance on a audio casette and gave the casette to her mom...her mom cried when she heard her 13 years old daughter...I cried too while i was listening that interview...love her..
Her official website says she debuted at only 17. I think she's getting more and more recognition, especially with her Mozart opera recordings under Rene Jacobs. I heard her for the first time as Vitellia in La Clemenza di Tito, and thought she would make the perfect Donna Elvira... as it turns out, she's already recorded Don Giovanni as Elvira and the recording comes out in the States in early October. :)
Thank you for the exhaustives infos. I think I remember having seen her sing a sole aria in a Jacques Martin sunday show years ago and she had impressed me. You're french, aren't you ?
I think she is 37. She has sung the inhuman role of La Stonatrilla in "l'Opera Seria" by Gassmann, also Semiramide, and Donna Anna in Don Giovanni in Toulouse, and Elvira in Paris.
Yes, I hope she will appear more often in romantic roles here in France. She is a romantic, tragedian singer even if her precision and musicianship allow her to sing also the baroque period, and preromantic period.
alexandrina is great...she made her debute as Violetta from LaTraviata in a concert version of the opera...and she was only 19...But it is not surprising considering her mother was one of the Bulgarian primas of opera..and she had given lessons to her daughter ever since Alexandrina was 13...and if we take the fact that whole her family r only musicions it is not surprising that Alexandrina is such a talent and not is the prima of the opera in Paris :)

Part 2? please?? Why is it so hard to find her recordings?

I'd gladly travel to the other side of the world to see Pendatchanska in a full performance of Lucia. Or of Stuarda, Bolena, Borgia...

She is born in 1970 in Sofia, Bulgaria. Her mother is a singer as well. I like her voice as it is absolutely my type.
I cannot stand the shrill tones of many soprano's - like Callas f.i. so I prefer the darker and more colorful ones like Netrebko's.

Really, REALLY boring contribution on the part of the conductor and orchestra. Put away the metronome and interpret the music, guys.

Don't be so sad...
Anyway. There are other live recorded highlights of her in her 20's and her technique didn't seem to be unstable.

But how do you not give 5 stars to a so beautiful voice, an artist who at the recording of this song had just twenty years? She deserves 10 stars!

How mature and dark is her voice, and polished her technique for so young a singer ! How old is she now ?
In what roles did she stage in Paris ?

Krassiana: very interesting. I know alexandrina is a pupil of the great Ghena Dimitrova. Do you mean, she is her daughter?
