  • TURBO DIESEL FOR THE WIN!

  • Comment removed

  • @tom69z28 Hey, it's all cool. Have you checked out the BWM 335d? Now that's an awesome diesel ... of the more than one hundred cars I've driven over the past few years, that one sits at the top of the charts.

  • @mpgomatic I test drove one a year ago, unbelieveable torque, and 38mpg.

  • Comment removed

  • @tom69z28 my bicycle cost thousands less than the Checy Cruze, and gets unlimitd mpg. You get what you pay for, right?

  • @tom69z28 cruze is ugly compared to jetta and it feels "cheap" when you drive it compared to wolfsburg jetta

  • @tom69z28 OK. first off the jetta will get better milage than the eco. period. second the jetta has 100 more ft pounds of torque (and more horse power) 3rd, it's a much nicer car and has about twice the resale value. think before you speak.

  • Comment removed

  • @tom69z28 you are right somewhat, quite often Euro cars are a more to maintain, but again you get what you pay for is the idea. (I personal always buy Japanese cars cause they have never done me wrong) but comparing vw to chev is in my humble opinion is just silly I've seen more problems with chev than just about ANY car, and there such junk to drive.

  • Comment removed

  • @tom69z28 well they don't "lack" torque, they tend to sacrifice it for good mileage and high end horsepower, I owned a RSX that got 53mpg on the highway (i got many times) and still would fly 0-60 in under 7 seconds. THAT is amazing. it's all what you want. they are legendary in there reliability as well. dito on the british cars, i think the only guys who like them are the type that want something to go wrong so they can fix it :P

  • @sausagenmuff 53mpg? awe comeon.

  • @tom69z28 yep thats the average i got on the highway, logged it many times. Millage i all about weight and wind resistance, since the rsx was made to be extremely light (2600 LBS) and aerodynamic, even though it's engine make 200HP it's only a 2.0L those things combined gave me amazing highway mileage.

  • Comment removed

  • @tom69z28 I'm anal with my milage because I drive a LOT. many times I got that mileage,

and it's not like i would have made a mistake, I could get 900km out of a tank and it was only a 50L tank. it usually took 45L to fill.

sure 36.7 but your average mouth-breather does'nt know shit about cars or how to drive them. I currently own a tsx and it's rated 22city/31 highway, but I get about 40 combined city/highway

  • @sausagenmuff yeah ok... sure.

  • @tom69z28 your a moron and don't know anything about engines aparently, welcome to my block list.

  • @sausagenmuff no one gets 53mpg with an RSX, your a joke. I forgot more about engines then you will ever learn.

  • @tom69z28 Jetta TDI's are one of the most solid built German cars ever, sure beats American shit like Chevy

  • @FacemeltingEntertain hopefully you don't live in America, since you love cars that are made in mexico.

  • @FacemeltingEntertain The new Volkswagen TDIs are made in one of the most economically friendly manufacturing facilities in Tennessee. They may be foreign owned but their quality built right here in the homeland.

  • Lol, I love how the mpg number goes up with the speed.

    Awesome car.

  • What is the best RPM range that you should shift a diesel car...If it is important a 2.5 tdi Audi a6...So when should i shift if i want the best 0-60 time? :)

Thanks for help in avance :)

  • @ManuelFerara about 3000

  • was it 10s?

  • cool 8.56 seconds

  • 8.57 best time

  • No wonder diesels are so fuel efficient because the revs only hit 4,500 at full throttle!

  • @shalimardrwalker they do operate at much lower revs but the reason they are more efficient is because the fuel they burn has more BTUs of energy than gasoline and compressed ignition is always going to be more efficient then spark ignition as well, again, the fuel is the key.

  • My remapped 1.9 AWX Passat 04 54 plate would eat that!

  • 8.87 secs 0-60mph is best time.

  • I thought the DSG would help acceleration even a little bit... i guess not :(

  • so quiet sshhhhh..

  • VOLKSVAGON

  • In Denmark were I live, Diesel is about 10% cheeper than regular gas, thats why there are sold more diesel cars here than cars there drives on regular gas

  • @MrJumper68 Just wait till your government stops subsidizing diesel, then you're going to pay out the ass for it.

  • @ghrpdx Well Diesel cars are more expansive than gas cars, also there is a tax you have to pay every year, it is dobbel the price for diesel "about 2000 us $" But even then it is cheaper to drive, because of the millage it does.

  • Diesel > Hybrid

  • Wow! Impressive for a TDI.

  • thats like 9 seconds

  • the tac looks slow.

  • it doesn't sound like a diesel but it certainly is since it goes olny to 5000rpm..

  • At first I thought that the left gauge was the speedometer! lmao

  • usually when you floor it the gas mileage is suppose to go down not up lol :)

  • @salemned i wish it worked like that. my cherokee sucks down gas

  • Buy Diesel.... go Slow....

  • TDI is good for mpg, not 0-60, so don't expect this thing to be a rocket. Currently, I'm interested in the sportwagen tdi for a family wagon. It's got a great interior design - very much upscale. However, currently diesel is about $0.50 more per gallon than 87 octane, so figure in an extra $200 a year for fuel when compared to a vehicle with same mpg. Not a deal breaker, but doesn't help VW either.

  • @RJL1981 Good thing diesel motors double the MPG of a shitty gas motor. Good luck finding a 50 MPG car that runs on gas besides a really gay hybrid. Odd that it was that slow to 60 tho considering truck diesels smoke some really fast cars out there with ease. Needs a bigger turbo!

  • @consordjung Tell us how you really feel, lol. I'm not sure what's "gay" about hybrids, besides their unreasonably high msrp... Hybrids are good, as you can hypermile upwards of 100mph, but I just wonder about cost associated with a dead fuel cell, And this jetta ran an average 0-60, as they are an 8.2 second vehicle to 60mph.

  • tac is kind of slow.

  • You just know it's gonna be unexiting when a 0-60 vid is 31 seconds long :O

    Was pretty quick tho ;)

  • Lol at 3.2 MPG instant.

  • omg the redline is 4k rpms LOL

  • @IxOVERKILLxI

yeah but its making 240 lbs of torque out of 2.0L , no need to rev high.

you don't really notice when you drive it either cause the rpm's take SO long to go through.

  • @IxOVERKILLxI because its a DIESEL

  • @IxOVERKILLxI it's a diesel. all of the power is down low it doesn't need high RPM's to get the power it needs.

  • @pmharl "Oh what a feeling! Toyota!" - get one today and we'll throw in a involuntary cruise control absolutely free!

  • @adammdamann I'll bet you're one of those that drives a POS Chevrolet and have a "Buy American" bumper sticker with American flag attached to the driver's side window, am I right? GM/Ford/Chrysler would only dream of building cards as nice as the Germans. But do you blame them, bunch of double cheeseburger eating far a**es can't built a go cart if you asked them to.

  • @peterkim1999 after reading your other comments, dont bother replying. thank you and please get a hobby

  • @tengauged ha it is.. the TDi isn't aimed at the performance market. although, with bigger injector nozzles. and chip tuning (around 6-700$ for both) it will beat the pants of most compacts in its class. That low end torque (after mods) shrinks the 0-60 time drastically

  • wow, my 88 corolla was faster

  • @pmharl Toyota, hey, it drives by itself.

  • @pmharl Only in your wildest dream. I thought the slogan for a Toyota was "Moving Forward, Even When You Don't Want To"?

  • @peterkim1999 i didnt reply to your last comment. yes, agreed, it does drive by itself. and agree in your last comment. again yes, toyota cars do keep going. any argument here or are you just talking to yourself?

  • car need to rev higher

  • @coolgames14 That would make it slower, diesels have more torque at low RPMs.

  • @04smallmj fine, ok i got one, car need more horse power ^^

  • @coolgames14 It's a diesel, each revolution consist of higher torque than a gas engine so does not need high revolution.

  • @peterkim1999 i know that but with only little horse power, but horse power isnt alot u know, btw these vw engine can be use for 4x4 due to off-road required torque rather than horses ^^

  • you guys do realise its an automatic

  • I love it how the mpg actually goes up during the acceleration

  • I just looked at this video today and saw half the page covered in comments about the 2011 mustang. WTF?

  • this car is ment to save gas so i excuse it from speed. I like it =)

  • I hate all VW's, especially their styling and image, but eventually I will want to spend less on fuel and may even consider a TDI.

  • its slow but damn that thing shifts so fast

  • its slow? well what do you expect "captains obvious" lulz

  • I counted 11secs... pretty slow...

  • Yeah, I counted 9 seconds.

  • was that 9s?

  • it still gets good mpg even when floored

  • LOL it gets better gas milage at WOT then a hummer a idle

  • Remember the Jetta TDI aren't 0-60 cars, the power band and gearing are more for sprints in the 30-80mph range. The engine is effertless in hill climb, has great highway passing power and still gives you excellent overall FE. When buying a VW Golf/Jetta TDI, I would strongly recommend that you test drive both the DSG and 6 speed manual. The manual clutch can be hard to learn (re-learn) at first, but you will end up being a better driver driving the manual car.

  • do you have a test of the 2.5 jetta?

  • @sackattack360 Not yet.

  • @sackattack360 I JUST SOLD 2009 JETTA 2.5 FIVE CILINDER 170 HP.ITS FAST BUT I WANT MORE FUEL ECONOMY SO I BOUGHT JETTA TDI SPORTWAGEN AND I CAN GO AROUND 43 MPG HWY.AND AROUND 32 MPG CITY

  • @sackattack360 it's around 8.5 sec with the auto, and 8 flat with a manual...but it certainly feels faster cuz of that sexy 2.5 exhaust tone...

  • ouch

  • i went to Tim Hortons and got a Coffee before this thing reached 60

  • wow those idles go fast during shifts,

  • man that really doesnt sound like a diesel at ALL :)

  • My god, those shifts are quick

  • Lol, I just got done spanking one of these TDI's tonight and I wanted to find a video to watch like this. Not bad and with 236 ft. of torque it helps launch the car but with only 140 horses it's still too slow to compete with.

  • Come on dudes, if you'd know a bit about cars, you wouldn't scream "OMG it's only going at 4500 rpm yuck !". This is a TDI. That means TURBO DIESEL INJECTION.

I hope that I'm not actually learning something to all of you.

This car is powerful at low RPM because it has Diesel engine. It's like a truck.

  • @killerguitar44 Actually, it stands for "Turbocharged Direct Injection." ;-) But you're absolutely right, it's diesel only, and you can't directly compare numbers with those of a gas engine; the engine types work differently.

  • @killerguitar44: That's why when I went up against this car tonight I noticed it wasn't doing too bad at catching up but the game was done, spent, finished for him. Then the idiot goes speeding through the lanes as he was doing the whole time anyway. Lol.

  • @killerguitar44 Turbo Direct Injection

  • @killerguitar44 FYI: TDI means TURBO DIRECT INJECTION

  • @killerguitar44 Umm Turbo Charged Direct Injection

  • @killerguitar44 Somethin intoxicating about a diesel only reving to 4K, but that rush of torque on the way there is addicting...actually SOUNDS pretty good to boot....you can floor it in 6th gear and it'll accelerate as if it was 4th or 5th in a gas car.

  • @yellowmusicfreak

Yeah I know I have my 2003 TDI Jetta and I love to climb the mountains around

  • @killerguitar44

you know i thought the "D" int TDI meant diesel as well but it actually means Direct.

  • @killerguitar44 It's Turbo Direct Injection buddy.

  • @killerguitar44 It's actually Turbo Direct Injection. :P Love my '01!

  • @fear5300 it's turbo Diesel Injection...

  • @jimihendrixtribute If you're referring to the acronym, you're wrong. TDI stands for "Turbocharged Direct Injection." This distinguishes them from the older diesels, which used indirect injection. I can't post a link, but you can find this info without much difficulty on VW's websites.

  • @killerguitar44 i think its TURBO-CHARGED DIRECT INJECTION. That does not make sense turbo diesel injection. Well obviously if it a diesel its got an "injection" system. But yeah ur righ about that other stuff i love diesels ahaha

  • @propanemower13

It doesn't make sense because it's the French pronounciation. That's what's written in my French booklet.

  • @killerguitar44 Tdi stands for TURBO DIRECT INJECTION

  • @Coll1nsworth

I got that told many times. It's my French booklet that writes that.

  • it ws 3 gears to get to 60, thats pathetic

  • @dergangedchipmunk Compared to what? You were expecting to get to 60 in only two gears, then? That would be pretty wild for a car like this. You do realize it's in mph not km/h, right?

  • @ClarkWise mine does...

  • Lol at Midnight Club III VW Jetta getting 0-60 in 3 seconds and it's the first car!

  • Gotta love the DSG! and the diesel!

  • slowly

  • 3 gear changed to get to 60......

  • 4500 rpm haaaaaaaaa

  • diesel!!!

  • lol auto much?

  • it sounds cool

  • It's a "sports-edition", and not even faster than my old 1.6 Carina E?

  • Had 2004 Jetta. Nothing but problems from day 1. Nothing but excuses from VW mechanics. Windows fell out transmission, oil, engine, you name it. Drove great for awhile though. Traded it in 2007 for a Chrysler and have had a way better vehicle lots of warranties but not earth shattering stuff like the VW.

  • 0-60: 8.7 sec

  • 9 seconds? my 25 year old BMW is faster than that

  • HAha 25l/100km?

  • what?

  • It feels faster than it really is. All that torque makes it feel A LOT faster. Mind you that this is meant to be an economy car/Prius killer, of course it's going to be slower than your BMW. Apples to oranges.

  • Does your 25 year old BMW get over 40 mpg?

  • It gets an average of 36mpg.

  • HAHAHA, at launch it was getting 3.6MPG!!!

  • Which is what every Volkswagen says when you are accelerating at full throttle. What do you think your vehicle gets when you accelerate full throttle?

  • I love doing this in my 09' Jetta 2.5L but it kills on mpg when I do it alot!

  • @DeltaAirlinesFlyer do you drive the 5spd or the automatic 6spd. I have the 5spd and can drive like that all day every day and get no less than 23mpg in the city. Drive it normal and I get about 29-31 in the city. 2008 MKV 2.5 L

  • is the tach like WAY off or is it the video?

  • clearly the video

  • wth the mpg went up lol

  • After taking the foot off the gas.

  • but of course lol

  • If you beef it up with aftermarket parts such as a turbo without completely upgrading your motor, your prehistoric engine will blow up and you'll end up with shrapnel in all of your body. To have a 4.6 V8 with 260 hp is pathetic no matter how you look at it. Also, you'll have to remove your steering rack and put in a better one, one that doesn't come from a tractor. Also, if you upgrade it, think that you have no weight over the rear so you'll be sitting spinning tires in a cloud of smoke.

  • Have you driven the 2010 Mustang? It's quite nice. I spend a week with a V6 convertible and was extremely impressed by the improvement in quality. I was never a Mustang fan (and we're talking 35+ years) and the 2010 changed my mind completely.

  • Yeah, the new mustangs are much better but if you want bang for your buck, the new camaro may be ugly but still a better engineered car.

  • Just wait till the 2011 Mustang. 305HP V6, and a 400HP 5.0L V8. That kicks the Camaro's ass. The camaro manages 402HP (Automatic) with 6.2L, the Mustang gets more from a 5.0L DOHC engine. And the mustang weighs a lot less than the camaro. (Not that I don't like the Camaro mind, I do). My mom has a 2007 Mustang with the 4.0L And it can pull pretty good.

  • 6spd has 425

  • Mustangs suck, and it may be lighter and slightly faster, but its still only a 410 HP 5 liter.... ROFL 6.2 Liter LS3 FTW!!! (plus the Camaro looks BADASSED!!!!)

  • @TacticalSuperRebel so the camaro has a full liter on the mustang but only makes 15 more hp? sounds pretty shitty to me. plus it weighs way more and doesnt handle as well as the new mustang with a track pack

  • Wait, mustangs suck? 410HP 5 Liter.... The Camaro LS3 is a 420HP 6.2L... 67.75 hp/liter for the old fashioned, pushrod 6.2L. 82.4hp/liter for the new 5.0L DOHC. The new Coyote is more engine than the LS3 ever will be. It's not all about displacement.

  • Oh, but it IS all about displacement! especially when the 6.2 gets the same MPGs and has more power still being bigger, and yea the DOHC 5 liter is good, but if the LS3 variant were upgraded to a 6.2 liter DOHC.... the Ford engineers would probly start crying.... LOL

  • Yeah, ok. GM isn't going to completely reengineer the 6.2L for 4v/cyl DOHC. It would be a massive redesign and I don't think they will spend that much money on it. The new 5.0L will get 25mpg highway, the 6.2L gets 24mpg. I think Ford still wins. Especially considering that the camaro outweighs the mustang by hundreds of pounds. The mustang will be faster by far at the drag strip and stop lights.

  • I never said they were going to reengineer the LS3, I said, if it was a DOHC, or if they do design one, and even if the shitstain is slightly faster on the dragstrip (not by much at all), it still has a solid rear chassis, and is still a FuckedOverRebuiltDodge...

  • Wow, dude ok you keep on believing your delusion. It has been shown numerous times that the solid rear axle setup on the mustang works just as well as an IRS. And once the new engine replaces the old (a 100HP difference btw) the Camaro will NEVER be able to keep up. FuckedOverRebuiltDodge eh? I won't even deign to respond to this idiocy. Whatever dude, you are making youself look like a fool.

  • You realize with all your shit-talking that the 411HP Mustang isn't till 2011, right now its a 310ish HP Mustang compared to a 425HP Camaro (2010) even back in 2000 the Camaro had 305 HP, and what did the Mustang have in 2006-2008? 300HP even, its about time Ford makes something with SOMEWHAT comparable power..... and that solid rear-end is just as good eh? Thats like saying the Camaro is just as fast as an Enzo Ferrari because they both have engines, but if thats what you think.....

  • Mhm because you are so familiar with this. Notice that it is the 2011 model year. It will be a summer of 2010 release- that's this summer. Notice that even with the 100HP less, the Mustang was only about .3 seconds slower in the 0-60 than the Camaro. That's right, a 310HP Mustang was able to match a 420HP Camaro. And guess what? The V6 will make about 5 HP less than the current V8. Sad.

  • Yea, so congrats after many years of failing and making whimpy little 'sports' cars, they have something halfway decent, its about time, and with that solid rear end, it probably gets better straight-line runs, thats not that surprising, but I wasn't comparing 0-60 times, I was looking at raw power, not whos technically faster ;)

  • Hmmm.. Well lets think about something. If the mustang is just as fast as the Camaro, why need more power? Why does the Mustang NEED another 100HP when it competes just fine with the current engine? Maybe GM, Chrysler, Ford should just put 600HP Turbo charged engienes in their respectable cars because we all know, "It's all about HP numbers"

  • HELL YES! That would be badassed!!! that would be one Ford worth owning, an Escort or equivalent sub-compact car with 600+HP..... I'd buy it!!! but thats the ONLY way that I would own a Ford ;)

  • Wow. You buy cars only for HP, that's crazy. If you want power the new Ford Taurus has like 340HP. The new 5.4L GT500 has like 550 or something like that. Nobody makes a subcompact with that much horsepower. Nobody.

  • Pretty sure the new taurus makes 365, which is damn good, even though its a Ford, but I could put thousands into my engine and twin-turbo it an get 350-400 HP, so its not un-heard of, and once again, I didn't say anybody made a 600+HP subcompact, I said it would be cool IF THEY DID!!! and the GT500 is retarded, why would I get that when I could get the Hennessey supercharged Camaro for the same price? LOL

  • @TacticalSuperRebel There are many Subaru WRX/STI that have been modded to do 700hp!

  • @TacticalSuperRebel Hell yeah! Ford sux ballz! They all fall apart after 500 miles. My 84 Vette smokes anything on the road! It might be the fastest car in North America. Found On Highway Destroyed.

  • @bottzxI32 Found on Roadside Dead (FORD), however I would say that isn't the case now... Chrysler/Dodge = Doom...too bad none of the US manufactures invest in diesel car/wagon...

  • @TacticalSuperRebel because with the gt500 your get the shelby heritage behind it.

  • @northeasteg6 you also get a factory warranty.

  • @TacticalSuperRebel Cause a Stang is a Stang :)

  • @TacticalSuperRebel because somebody would want a car that they could actually drive without saying to themselves, wow i cant believe i bought this peice of shit.

  • @adammdamann Speak for your self.

  • @peterkim1999 i am

  • @TacticalSuperRebel Ford, what a joke, typical American piece of trash. Owned 3 in the past, never will ever, FORD, fix or repair daily.

  • Testicles. That is all.

  • HAHAHA lol that gave me an unexpected laugh, congrats ^_^

  • It seemed like the appropriate thing to say. There's Chevy, Ford, and Peter Griffin.

  • I agree. The 2011 Mustang will SMOKE the Camaro and keep up (Maybe even beat) an M3.

  • @mpgomatic until 60,000 miles later...

  • @mpgomatic Ye, the 2010 ones are sweet.

  • @mpgomatic a monster truck can beat the new mustangs lol i seen it at the drag strip the other day mustang ran a 9 sec and the monster truck ran a 7 sec in a quarter mile

  • @mpgomatic and the 2011 is even better

  • @mpgomatic The 2011 is way better. Very fast for a V6.

  • @valereydyachuk Are you stupid or what have u been in a chevy camaro the interior quality is junk. The only thing taht was missing from the base V6 mustang was the engine with no power but don't worry ricer boy that problem has been solved with the 2011 model. 304hp base motor and 400+ v8 will leave the competition in the dust. The mustang is just getting warmed up
