There are a lot worse, 'reconstructions', on here, but even so, this one is somewhat lacking. You say that this is how BBC1, 'should', close down? Despite the fact that they no longer close down, (and haven't done for years, more's the pity!), I'd like to think they'd do a much better job of it than this. I'll give you credit for trying, though.
Thats the Flawed digital reproduction of the original (which used glass plates) the digital version crops off the girls arm (the cam had to zoom in a bit to hide the original circle) and used 3 computers. in a close up some arrows arnt symmetrical and there is poor aliasing in the image. Basically unusable for engineers.
Massive minus points for no speech/clock/national anthem (as you say, you have limited resources, so maybe too ambitious a project, yes?) and questionable test card music (although it's always nice to hear Men At Work) but several plus points for using the *optical* TCF - much better than the electronic version in my opinion. Keep on trying!

BBC 1 should just close down- permanently. Shocking waste of TV tax payers money, scrap it and the blasted fee!
