  • Thanks for posting this beautiful song from long ago, one I heard after years. Can someone say authoritatively who were the poet and the music director? And the year of the song?

  • The lyrics of this song are written by Sajjan famous character actor of its own time

  • may Allah bless you....and give you a nyc place in heaven...Ameeeeen!

  • I am a die hard Talat fan and this one is my favorite ghazal. No other singer can sing in the velvety voice like that of Talat. When I am depressed, I just play his songs and ghazals and close my eyes.

  • What ghazal from king of ghazal I got lp of private ghazals i still listen to them thanks. solomon israel

  • There is no such thing as a bad Talat song. Either the tune or the words are good - or indifferent or downright bad. But Talat always gave off his best. I have always said I don't believe in God; but I believe in Talat Mahmood. What a voice. And here what a ghazal.

  • what a ghazal... height of emotions..

he use to sing by the name TAPPAN kumar in 1943 from radio calcutta.

i bow my head to this great singer.

  • EjazKhan Sahab, you have done all of us a lovely favour by posting this beautiful ghazal -- I used to hear this on AIR back home in the sixties. Talat Sahab is an absolute treasure in my opinion, for everyone on the subcontinent and the world -- I have seen him in concert, and I consider it a great privilege to have sat in the same hall with this great, talented man and listened to him sing. Bahut shukriyaa, bahut dhanyavaad...

  • great ghazal will remain memorable all time to come

  • Talat ji alwys my favourite singer particukar his Non Filmi Gazals, betwn 50/60 I wrote his songs with listlening on radio i collectall the racords at that time, Madam Mohanji. Anilda, all time favourite singer is Talatji.

  • Great geet I wonder if some one can tell me who is the poet for this great geet. Thanks

  • The lyric is Tanvir Naqvi.

  • @gariyamoshi

I thought that lyrics were from "Sajjan" and Music was of Murli Manohar Swarup. No that it matters much- this is an absolute gem among a few select, ghazals, geet and nazm from Talat Saheb. He has left a treasure behind- only for those who can appreciate his genius- not for the zillions Bollywood Boom Boom heads!

  • waah waah, kiya haseen aawaz hai .

  • How can one get back ones lost love.

  • good question

  • Thanks for uploading the most popular song of Talat jee which he sang at a number of stage performances in India and abroad

  • Yes it is in his own calligraphy. It is a page of his diary, which he used during live performances. Thanks for comments sir.

  • Ah,this was the kind of sadness-laden sweetness that often made listeners shed a quiet tear. The words and his voice both resonated so profoundly within our souls .I had the privilege to hear him in person when he visited Cambridge, Mass, in the mid-1970s. I see that the Urdu writing gives the entire text of Jalte Hein Jiske Liye , a different TM gem. Is that in his own calligraphy?Your illustrated profile of TM is a labor of love. Thank you for the lovely treat.
