This is probably the best amv out there- captures what the series was for me. The series had its down points(the zombies) but the way it captured nostalgia, the whole end, and the moment where Harry is shot makes it one of the best alongside legends like Berserk, Monster and Texhnolyze.

Basically they experienced different things when they were in the Mafia. Brandon learned the most important thing in life was to protect one's family because of his talks with Big Daddy. Harry on the other hand never had a mentor or teacher. Instead, Harry believed that power was the most important thing in life. Harry was a good person. He wanted peace, but he became corrupted. He sought power to such an extent he was willing to kill his best friend.

well basically because this story is about the mafia, and the greed of a man that wanted to be the mob boss, so there can't be a happy ending there, most of the main characters are minor mob bosses, obviously bad guys, bad guys don't end up with a happy ending
