I hate to point this out, but if there's vibrato in the voice, then it is not a belt. Belting uses the cricoid cartlidge of the larynx, whereas vibrato comes from tilting the thyroid cartlidge. Whitney is not belting. Celine clearly is.

I hate to point this out, but if there's vibrato in the voice, then it is not a belt. Belting uses the cricoid cartlidge of the larynx, whereas vibrato comes from tilting the thyroid cartlidge. Whitney is not belting. Celine clearly is.

Anyone who thinks Celine "can't" sing is just plain stupid. It's personal preference if you don't like the sound of Celine's singing, but she has excellent skills. Whitney was great in her prime and I respect her, but this video is very weak. Comparing one note from "It's a Man's World" (a terrible song for her) sung a decade past her "prime" with Whitney in her prime. Be fair and compare prime Celine to prime Whitney, or compare them today and watch Celine school Whitney in every way.

Celine will never be more successful than Mariah and Whitney. She had NO longevity. She was popular for, what, five years? Mariah and Whitney were still getting huge hits after over a decade of being in the business. That alone makes them more successful than her. Celine might not have as much influence as MC or WD in your case, but she is also pretty much well known in her own sense. I believe celine was three of the top selling female artists so she was quite successful sales wise.
