if you look on the back leggs and if there are circles at the back of them then you mostlikley have a male the a pores. or take it to the vet for a checkup its like $15 the will check its health and let you know if its a guy or girl :) good luck
how did u tame him? mine is about 12inches was 18 but end of tail fell off when it got stuck under rock in cage and ive had him for three months. but when i reach in his encloser to grab him he runs and if i get him in a spot where he cant run he whips/bites me
what size tank is that and where did you get it, please respond just got my baby iguana and would like to get him something that will last him awhile. and your iguana has a very nice color by the way
hate to break it to you but she is a he notice the larger crest (spikes) on the top and it gets smaller as it goes females crests have all the same length spikes not a sure sign of a male but most likely
Nice cage and cool iguana! I need help. My iguana has been turning a yellowish orange color and he's also been acting very wild and aggressive when I try to hold him he doens't whip or bite though) he's about 1 yrs. old. If any one can help me that would be awesome! 1/24/10
Some iguanas turn an orange/yellow color.. depends on the exact species.. Was he always aggressive? Mine goes through moods like that sometimes really aggressive and sometimes not so bad
@konidragon hey i don't know if you ever figured this out, but igs often change color and get aggressive during breeding season... probably just that time of the year!
@grendeltherediguana I like to think of iguana breeding season as a less frequent, longer lasting, female period. They get moody during a certain time of the year and if you try to touch them they may remove extremities haha
All I know is that the Orange color is a color the iguana gets when it's the alpha male in it's territory. That said it isn't weird if it acts more aggressive than normal.
I don't know if there's anything to do about it since this is a natural behavior for the dominant iguana.
thanks!! im not sure how old she is.. i bought her in a pet store in november and i wasnt told an age. shes about 2 feet long though, so she must be young!!

Ive been starting to think it might be a boy.. its been almost a year since I took that video and I still finding it hard to tell
dragonqueen6 2 years ago
look on the back legs do you see any spikes? also look for swolen jowels or cheeks as these are a sure sign of a male
bryce1994 2 years ago
Are you talking about the pores on the back of the legs? They are there, but they are faded. I don't see any jowels at all.
dragonqueen6 2 years ago
the pores are another factor yes but males usually develop spikes on the back legs similar to the ones on the crest they should be near the pores
bryce1994 2 years ago
nevermind i dont know where i heard that but its wrong

@konidragon It's breeding season. Males get aggressive and tend to turn an orange color during their mating season.
