  • such a qutie!!

  • So cute! I had a european hedgehog as a kid for winter once..I know its not the same but she (Conny) was still a cutie and got quite trusting considering she was wild.

  • Thank you! (^-^)

  • i want a hedgehog!!

  • Aw! Its so cute when its nose are twitching and then he eats his wormys! Its so adorable!

  • So they can't just remove the whole tumor? I feel very sad for you.

  • It depends in part on where the tumor is. If it were on the lower jaw, there would be a chance of removing the whole tumor, though that could involve removing most of the jaw as well. Shming's tumor is on the upper jaw, which would involve removing a lot of bone and sinus, and possibly his eye as well. Even then, there's no guarantee the entire tumor could be accounted for, and anything left behind would just grow back as rapidly as before.

  • you are soooo good with your hedgehogs :)

  • AWWH C':

  • first hedgehog was having the best day with me one day then i realized when i put him back in his cage he wasnt walking then i was worrying and started to cry after a while hes mouth kept opening which i didnt know at that time i tried to help but nothing worked then i forgot to check him up each 10 mins and when i came back he was gone writing this comment makes my cry and i hope your hedgehog can live its life happy with its tumor good luck shming! :)

  • Oh, I'm so sorry that happened! :*( Sometimes they just pass so quickly that there's nothing we can do.

    *BIG HUGS*

  • I know the feeling. I lost my 'Chara quickly like that. *hug*

  • omg at 58! Thats amazing!

  • Yep, he's very good at communicating what he wants.(^-^)

  • How's he doing? Since I found your videos I think of you every time I sit down at the computer & have only good thoughts for you. I have a friend who pet sits a hedgie, and her's also has a lip/mouth tumor. They are just the sweetest little bits of love! Please keep all your fans updated on your baby~we all love Shming!

  • Thank you for asking. :) He is still able to eat chicken sticks and mealworms. We took him to another vet two hours away to get a second opinion just in case there was anything he could do for Shming. He took a biopsy and Shming was so incredibly good! We're so proud of him. The vet is going to try to find a pharmacy near us that can mix Piroxicam (not sure if I spelled that quite right) because it may work better for Shming than the Metacam.

  • The tumor is growing quickly, so debulking it would not be likely to help because by the time he recovered from the surgery it would be growing back. It might extend his length of life a very tiny bit, but would not improve his quality of life.

Shming is getting a lot of couch time. He likes to nap on the end of the couch and eat snacks there. At this point eating a lot of "junk food" will not make matters worse, so we let him have what he wants while he can still chew well enough.

  • Shming!!! He looks so adorable!! He also looks pretty different too, I don't know why but he just looks different.

I'm just happy that he's eating his meal worms and that's good, he may be a little chubby but hey at least he's getting his food and that's very important for his survival.

Yeah that was so cute how Shming just pushed your hand when he doesn't want the worm, so cute! xD He's like "no mum, I dun want no more" X3!!!

  • Omg 2 days ago i went camping and i had to put her in my tent and like at 6 in the morning i hear her digging under my pillow and im like wtf? and i put her back and she was running around freaking outso i had to put her in my bathtub with a towel for her to sleep in :(

  • hey its me again my hedgehog is fine thanks for making me get one i love them!! i just bought him a bag of mealworms anbd he loves them thnaks again.

P.S his name is riccio i named it after yours :P

  • They're so adorable when they're happy. Don't feed Riccio so many that he doesn't eat his kibble, though. Mealworms are really high-fat, and hedgies need about 30 percent protein in their diet.

(Even knowing that, it's still almost impossible to tell them 'no,' isn't it? All they have to do is put their little paws up on the side of the cage, and my resistance dissolves.)

  • I'm so glad you and your little one are getting along well! (^-^)

    Aw, thank you! (^-^)

  • lol at first i though it said " cute after birth " so i though that thing in your hand was the baby im like O_O thats a tiny baby , xD

  • So cute! i tryed to feed my hedgehog meal worms and he would not even bite it! i was sad becasue i bought i big package of them

  • Had he ever had them before? Sometimes they don't realize at first that mealworms are food. Riccio didn't know what they were for when I first offered them, but after I put some in his dish with his regular food he discovered that they were very yummy and he started to beg for them. (^-^)

  • ChrisSunHwa's right. If your hedgie doesn't recognise worms as food, just put a few in his dish. Sooner or later, he'll try them, and from then on he'll likely be hooked. In the meantime, make sure you check his food daily and remove any worms that die on their own.

  • I like the sound Schming makes when he or she(sorry I don't know) eats, its so cute.

  • Shming is a boy. :) Yeah, he loves his worms! It always sounds so cute when he gobbles them up! (^-^)

  • Oh cool, and yep the sound he makes its really cute.
