thats a great idea. think about doctors having these after a patient has gone through cat scans and having a detailed 3d image that doctors could look at and move organs and vessels aside to see whats really going wrong. kind of like exploratory surgery without going under the knife.
THis strikes me as more of a daydream then an invention. It glosses over all the hard problems such as the actual optics. Some of the included things seem to make little sense, such as polarization when you already have different areas of the screen for each eye. Similarly the lenticular screen is pointless since the screen in the hmd moves slaved to your head.
When you have actually reduced it to practice and proved it can work, I'll be impressed. Til then it strikes me as a con.
brilliant concept and great advertising video :). Very well thought out.
But, will the focus actually work with electronic liquid lens, magnifier and lenticular sheet all up close to the face like that? Any chance you could rig up a simple test with a LCD screen (iphone?), lenticular screen and a fixed lens and check to see if the eye can focus well.
0:20 freeze here, you can clearly see it's fake!

Super cool vision. Hopefully that lens stuff will work.
I think I will be using vr goggles within 3 years. The screen resolution is important I think, I would want at least full-HD.

I would spend $1k on it if you put 5.1 surround with it

Actually on second thought, that doesn't exactly qualify as a patent chap. Better fire up word and start typing!!!
