And what do you think about Brain Boosters?, could improve your memory as yow were a child.
Just, I liked to feel this sensation again and I can confirm that works, is like your brain requires data all time. Do you remembre the movie? Simple it's awesome! I recommend to try it at least one time, then you will have another point of view.
The sustainability of the memory is also interesting - asking the person 2 years later if they can "remember" what it was they were learning to remember. If it is worth memorizing spending time with a variety of skills seems valuable - if you are just trying to get something and use it for a short time frame that is another story.
Nice trick to remember specific things better. If you want to naturally improve your memory you should focus on eating right and regular mental exercise. Those of you with smart phones, we offer an interactive memory game. Combined with this peg system you'll have a super memory ;)
this what I did: cat stepped on tack dad wearing hat asian mom angry talking sandwich in annoying orange lawyer climbing mountain shoe uses wire as shoelace kings = hockey, hockey is a sport and so is baseball house of ivy bee flying into a mountain 9/11
This is a technique that I have been using for many years, I refer to this as a memory palace. I use my home as this palace inside of my mind and create a virtual pathway.
wtf is this, all he did is just read stuff off a page. i dont get it, no offense to him, but, i expect to learn atleast one thing within 5 mins of video, i couldnt even finish the whole thing. he could have atleast made is something importent, like taught us the presidents. this was just jibberish
1 is tack cause a upside down tack looks like a one. My Dad was # 2 in a CB club , 3 is mom to be, 4 is sandwich for you, 5 lawyers alive, 6 couldn't think of anything so its shoe, 7 seven heaven king, 8 ivy hivie that way you know 9 is bee 10 is bee hole just remember the last three have something in common. Pretty much something anything to rememberer stuff by.
This really didnt help me at all.. I can fully, almost in colour, visualize the things that should be associated with the thing I need to remember, but the thing is I forget that too. Almost in an instant after I have visualized it I forget the associated thing and with that the word and the number I needed to remember. Yes, my memory is that bad.
@LukasCoyne I agree that you should not use this method, I'm not sure about Derren Brown, but Harry Lorayne's book is great too, and teaches a better method that builds one on top of another, not just random words like the OP.
yeah i do these a lot of times.. in memorizing.. but i always use letters.. and its good for me.. because it is really effected to me... thanks for ur video.. hope that it makes other people to learn too...
Not a Good Video. From 2:30 -2:35, memory isnt Everything. There are much easier Ways of Obtaining good memory. You Don't learn how to achieve good memory, You You achieve good memory by Experience. This whole teaching it, BS. p.s, Airplane is Actually Aeroplane.
@Koolzii I guess you've never read Harry Lorayne's book on memory, and I guess millions of people are wrong on buying his book, and people are weird that it was on New York Time's Best seller list. It's impressive how many people say something here without simply checking a book or the internet. The smartest people in the world continually check themselves, and rethink their life and knowledge. Only fools think they're so smart.
PS. Both spellings are accepted. Just like colour and color.
this makes no sense at all it doesnt teach u anything important when your in school it doesnt teach you science facts or math formulas. How does this help bc it seems a waste of time
Or you could just create a story with the words: The cat in the hat was angry because he wanted to go mountain climbing and I was talking to much, but he already had the wire. I wanted to play baseball in the house. But the cat still wanted to go to the mountain. And I kept talking about airplane.
I mean maybe the story I made is stupid but its relating words to each other, in order (in case you need that) without making it as complicated as what he's saying.
you not supposed to, its just an example, make up words that participate with your subject that you want to study, lets say biology, example: anabolic, catabolic, now imagine 1. building up - anabolic, 2. breaking up - catabolic, THATS IT.

so the 2 year old was goin to get a job?? plain awesome! aren't you in the guinness book of world record?? whoever you are, you're so pathetic. I can't figure out if you're being more sarcastic or just trying to be funny?? Just so you know, you're obviously pathetic in both areas!! No wonder you are not getting any job!!!
Don't read this. In 1771 a boy named Ernie was walking in the woods alone and then he disappeared. Two years later, a girl named Rose found him dead with a knife down his throat. And then, one day later, they found Rose dead in her room. If you do not copy and paste this onto ten other videos bye 12:00 midnight, he will murder you in your room. If you do, then your crush will kiss you
can you help me to remember what i JUST read. lol... what i mean is when i read books, or reading for homework... i can never remember what I just read like if i were reading the first chapters of a book then i get to chapter 15 i cant remember what happened in chapter 10 chapters ago HELP!!
The easiest explanation is, you didn't commit the things you've read to "long term memories." That's the main reason why you can't recall them afterward. For this technique to work, you need to pause every now and then, and consciously commit the things you read into memories.
A picture is worth 100 words. Turn the word into an image and we remember it in much more detail. Attach an emotion to that image and it becomes memorable. The funnier image - the easier it is to remember.
Convert the number to a letter (1 = L) then a small word that uses that letter (aLe).
So the FIRST image to me would have been a pint of ALE TACKed to the floor. I would then merge that some way to 2 = Zoo and my Dad in a cage etc.
its too good - i liked it - can you help me some other words that will just not only help in memorizing list of words but sentences as well. Looking forward to some new tops
~Yes this is 100% true! What im going to say might seem stupid but think about it. when we think of a car, obviously we think of wheels, smoke, windshield, spoiler, street and so on because we know the car has it or its related...this video works the same way but instead of remembering the car pieces, we have to create relations between the objects we want to memorize.
This is terribly complicated! What's the point?!!!! Why remember THREE sets of TEN things when I can remember a quick little story to just remember the 10 words. Go figure!
I still think everyone should explore taking supplements. I wonder if contestants in Memory Contests take anything or are allowed to take any "memory enhancers". I know of Ginko Billoba but I take Omega 3. It contains DHA which has been linked with higher IQ's. The brand with the most DHA is by Neurovi, (btw, entering "gift of health" gets you 12% off.)Recommend it to anyone who wants to jump start their brain
Neurologists and memory experts have done countless researches on the correlation between the consumption of supplements and memory. The results are highly negligible. In other words, supplements or "neuro nutrients" don't really matter.
Does anyone know a good way to remember cocktail recipes? I need to find a way to remember different recipes for different casinos. Need to be able to remember not only the specific liquors used per property but also the ratios as well as garnishes and glassware.
It can be done. But you need to break the recipes down into a set of digestible lists. You can also try mind map. It's another memory enhancement method. Usually, the latter is useful for complicated topics.
Hi, how you doing greg?...anywayz im a college student and I've been trying to figure out how to remember all of my study terms and its just so hard. Heres my question: Say if your trying to know what the word "Telecommuting" is; Should I put the number One beside telecommuting or is telecommutting the number itself?_Also does it matter if its a long term or not?
use darren browns method - say that you had, i'll use chemistry - and then the next word being "random word" fire - now picture in ur mind something that relates the 2 words - such as "our chemistry is so good it burns like fire" also try to picture 2 people in love standing next to each other (well your own ideas)
if this is what the movie is about sorry, i havent watched it yet =P
The number / rhyme method too is a pegging system. But, because the corresponding word rhymes to the number it's assigned to, it makes it seems easier.
instead of coming up with a list of peg words that have no relation to the numbers whatsoever, I think it's better to select peg words that rhyme with the numbers. I use these: 1) Gun 2) Glue 3) Tree 4) Door 5) Dive 6) Tricks 7) Heaven 8) Date 9) Dine 10) Hen
Yours is a straightforward version of the peg / rhyme method. Because of its straightforwardness, it makes the memorization seems easy. However, the number pegging system is not restricted to only rhyme equivalents.
I think you need a stable, easily retrievable list of objects to associate objects to. As someone mentioned before, this is superior to link method because you don't need previous object to retrieve the next object. But to be honest, I am just a novice but love this.
This numbering method is not exactly superior to the link and story method. In reality, both methods can be used interchangeably back and forth to verify a recalled memory.
okay... now i loooove biology and as you know, it's a shait load of facts you have to remember. Can anyone please help me out> this method works fine, but it really takes a looonngg time to make up a list for a whole book. i'm 17 and in grade 12, not getting straight a's but i wanna give it a go.
I find what's difficult in Biopsy is to turn an abstract concept into an object that you can visualize and associate. That's where the imaging kicks in, I guess. Anyone more than welcome to add their comments on this.
hehe well.. this method requires one to make a permanent list of number associated words.. then by using those words, associating then with other words to enable a "list"-like memorization of a new bunch of words... so.. its useful for shopping lists and stuff... so it doesnt really apply for school tho kiwi =).. ^^ but i guess it might help in memorizing matrices of nouns and stuff.. =)...
There are other techniques that work very well for school stuff. I've actually made up my own to memorize text books. I love being able to memorize a study guide and then attach info to it. It's like I'm filing the info in my head to easily retrieve. There are also different variations of what this guy is doing above. The Ancient Greeks used such techniques almost 3000 years ago.
It's like a linear story WITH numbers! Can you tell me how you used it for school? I want to do apply it to school too...but how does these memorization methods work on 'concepts', since school memorizing is more concept than individual words
Try to just remember key words of a specific concept. Then if you study the subjects well enough the key words will allow you to associate the complete subject from just a few key words.
using mnemonics beats the shit out of your method man, and i barely even use that. it turns 10 items into 1. u know it would probably help to try understanding (we call it LEARNING) the reason of a thing to help you better "imbibe" your information, rather than briefly memorize something before an exam that you'll forget in a week... kinda defeats the purpose of getting an education maybe?
It's true that understanding and digesting information is important but in medicine there are still lists of facts that one must and NEED to withdraw quickly. That's how this is important. So, no one has photographic memory except good techniques.
giving meaning to numbers lets you remember items out of sequence.. in the story method.. its very linear... you have to be able to recite the story in your head or at least know what comes before "the object" you need to remember..
Using mnemonics this way is a far superior method, add it to the link method (story) and you can create very powerful memory techniques
I dont understand why he needed to make a meaning for the numbers. why dont you just make a story that goes down the list like "the CAT put on a HAT. the hat made him ANGRY. this made him want to TALK about it..etc" make a story like that and then just number them all the way down.

Yours is a straightforward version of the peg / rhyme method. Because of its straightforwardness, it makes the memorization seems easy. However, the number pegging system is not restricted to only rhyme equivalents.

word association and visualization. what are the numbers for?

For sequence.

Anyone more than welcome to add their comments on this.

it's a method from Harry Lorayne, search his e-book: "Super Power Memory" from the net and learn for yourself!

Prolly you need to hone your comprehension skill first. :-)

hehe well.. this method requires one to make a permanent list of number associated words.. then by using those words, associating then with other words to enable a "list"-like memorization of a new bunch of words... so.. its useful for shopping lists and stuff... so it doesnt really apply for school tho kiwi =)..

I want to do apply it to school too...but how does these memorization methods work on 'concepts', since school memorizing is more concept than individual words
kiwi8 4 years ago

Using mnemonics this way is a far superior method, add it to the link method (story) and you can create very powerful memory techniques
wayman72 4 years ago 2
I dont understand why he needed to make a meaning for the numbers. why dont you just make a story that goes down the list like "the CAT put on a HAT. the hat made him ANGRY. this made him want to TALK about it..etc" make a story like that and then just number them all the way down.

His method is different from yours. There's nothing wrong with both methods though.

Excellent idea! I do similar things since my memory was never that terrific.
