Wow Stemage, this is fantastic. I honestly don't understand it when people tell me this sounds too different. I've listened to the original Sector 1 for hours in the past and I can say without a doubt that this recreates its feel very well.
I've been a fan for so many years, ever since I discovered you guys after looking up tips on multiple Metroid games, and if you've made Sector-1 of Metroid Fusion sound THIS epic, if you make the boss theme of Serris/Yakuza (the Sector-4 and Reactor Core bosses) sound absolutely awesome, I will seriously worship Stemage until the day I die.
Metroid Metal does a very good job at making these versions of metroid songs sound unique, amongst other kinds of video-game bands which usually will stick with the repetitive melodies (mimicking the actual songs basically). MM throws in a lot of their own riffs and time signatures into play, making these versions of metroid songs more entertaing and dynamic...(gasp)
this is my new favorite Metroid Metal cover/song/remix or whatever its called. I think cover is the proper term but I'm not too sure. Anyway, this track truly brings back a lot of memories(not bad ones) from when I was 7,8,9. Man I swear Metroid Fusion was the only game I loved. It was the first Metroid game I ever played. So naturally its my favorite, but I have to say for sure, that Super Metroid is the best, there's no doubt about that.[sigh] I miss the good ol' days.
WIsh i can play this game again. i beat the first boss where u get the morphball upgrade in 30 secs NO JOKE i told my friend i could and i did lol. anyways i can beat the game in an hour or so.
dude this brings back my seven year old memories of an old hand-me-down GBA, my first REAL video game, and my first nightmares from a video game (SA-X).
Im super happy and super mad at you right now. You made my fav song in my first metroid game. But u made me put phendrana at a lower rank. T.T Lol, great remix dude, love it.
@aznguitar92 Metroid Fusion was my first metroid game too! I got that and prime one at around the same time. I never played Metroid II though. Even though I hear is probably the least liked metroid game, I still want to play it for myself, you know?
@Cryo5cythe haha yeah i definitely get that. metroid II is the only metroid game i have yet to play and i still really want to play it. i need to beat Super Metroid on my virtual console still though lol i'm stuck at Ridley cuz i think i found him before i had gotten enough energy tanks.
Yeah, the big draw for me was plot, and of course, the potential for Metroid 5... If it ever comes out of development hell... XD
I'm kinda thinking their little episode of writer's block might have to do with, there are no more Metroid's in the universe, but that wouldn't stop Samus from having some sort of freak side-effect which spawns 'em out of... her gun because any other area would traumatize the developers, oh, and the target audience, I guess... :p
A lot of people hated Metroid 4 because it had more of a linear path, while most Metroids focus on nonlinear exploration. I think Fusion's awesome plot made up for it though. It might even be my favorite in the series.
I love it! When I made this song for my MM Tribute album, I thought "Okay Stemage definitely needs to make this one too, especially since it's from MF, and now this!" For some reason, there's something about this one that really feels like old-school MM. I don't know what it is, but it reminds me of when I first listened to the original songs like Brinstar, Kraid, and The Theme. Maybe it's because they're all based around D (Kraid is mostly in E lol) instead of C# like most of the main SM songs.
@Nesveri I absolutely LOVE The Black Mages, and I often play Metroid Metal and Black Mages in the same playlists, but I really can't put one before the other. Stemage is better at making metal, but The Mages are better composers.
Hmm. It's a really really great song, but (with the exception of the passage around 4:30) it doesn't succeed in feeling very Metroid for me even though I recognize most of the themes referenced. Feels more like Castlevania.
Also, I'd recommend better encoding options. I get great quality quality on youtube out of: MainConcept AVC/AAC (.mp4) Video: 720x480 frame size [for stuff like game capture] Profile: Main 27.970 Framerate (NTSC) (Do not allow source to adjust framerate) No field order / Progressive Scan 1.0 Pixel aspect ratio 2 Reference frames No deblocking filter Constant 2,000,000 bitrate Audio: 44,100 Hz Sample rate 192,000 bit rate, but change this depending on what kbps you record at.
I'm glad Fusion is finally getting some attention, but it's not really drawing me in. I know it's Metroid METAL, but it doesn't feel like it should. I didn't the source until well over a minute in. It really doesn't keep to the source enough in my opinion, and could be done in the same style with smarter arrangement decisions.
Just got to 4:22 and I'm really liking this section. The mood matches perfectly until around 5:12, then it loses what it had going.
@AerialBlast To each his own, I recognized the Fusion track in the clean intro. And in every part after that. I really don't get how you consider it distant from the source material; it's practically a straight cover with weird rhythms and lead flourishes.
@AerialBlast The song actually starts with a melody from the game at 0:13 in the original. Check it out. (link in description). But I can understand not noticing it. This song is almost completely reference to the source except for the thrash bridge breakdown thingy. I thought about writing out the references for fun, but I haven't yet. I can if anyone is interested. I do change a lot and it's way slower, but almost parts are variations of the source. Thanks for listening!
@Stemage Listening again, I recognize all the source and it's grown on me. Though, I still hold my opinion, but that's just my personal tastes. I look forward to more MM, and encourage you to keep exploring different styles. If you're familiar with Danimal's Blaster Master remix on OCR, I'd love to hear more music in that vein. If he can do that on his own, I'd be seriously pumped to hear what MM could do with all its members and that same awesome level of arrangement and effect/filter choices.
Along with the Pirates theme, this has to be one of your very best. Keep it up!
