If you stand too close to the green-screen you will see a blurry shadow overlap the kind you can see around his shoulders. The concept worked otherwise...
I did not learn one thing. It was a long and drawn out video that for me was a waste of time. You at least look like you know what you're doing but perhaps, I queried the wrong video. I just want to know how to import a video/picture and add a different background to the shot.
Nice try. I made a first try of my own (please comment) using Corel VideoStudio Pro. I also included Information of light used etc with costs. Next video coming soon where I'm building a small cart to make my screen mobile enough to more easily put it away without worrying about wrinkles ;o)
Nice work! I have also used Vegas, my first result was far away from this (my first usable result I should say. Using a blue plastic piece as background) But is there any way to use the chroma key technique when using the webcam? (on skype or msn or similar programs?)
That was great... Thanks very much. I'm very new to this and trying to make no mistakes bought a $600 lighting and green screen kit. The screen is way to large for my purposes with huge stands and clamps to support it and I'm absolutely blown away that you got a 22 x 28" posterboard from Wal-Mart that did a fabulous job. You're a pioneer in my book!! Thanks again.
Great educational video. Did you use a lot of lighting to shoot the movie? You didn't mention and I really would like to kwow. Also, how far were you from the green screen? Thanks in advance.
just a tip, to make it seem more realistic you should have the background picture quality be the same as the quality of your camera. it would make it look a lot better.
video response made with WMM with the blue screen transition plug-in.
Using a Sony Mini DVD Handy Cam.
Did'nt try the white paper and white auto adjust thing...as you can probably tell.
My only request...could you be a little more in-depth about how to set-up the auto white adjust for video camera? thanks for the informative video...great work!
The problem must be with your video render settings. For me, I have found that the best file size/video quality ratio by using the .wmv format at 512KB/S. At those settings a 10 minute video should not exceed 40MB of memory. For shorter videos (<4 min.) you may want to render .wmv @ 3MB/S, for better quality. That should keep you below 100MB.
I really like your honest description of how you use yje sony software! thanks man! I am getting some audio problems with this vid though. Yet your narrative is so cool I can block out the static im hearing on this great tutorial! thanks again for your way of teaching us!
hi there can you tell me is there anyway to alter the transparancy as the background image is ok but the top layer is a bit to transparent ps youre videos are really great keep up the good work my man i am in the uk
MadMustard I have the same set up just using a 3CCD DV camera, where do I place the background image? Video overlay bar in Sony Vegas or over the actual video? I think you should do the video again, with the camera facing the laptop showing how it is done on Sony Vegas.
Thank you joshw, you prompted me to make a follow up video showing how I did the original greenscreen video on Sony Vegas Movie Studio. I hope it is useful to you.
great test, not sure if you read my comments on the subject a while back but I wasn't necessarily saying it was hard to do GS just that I'n never had a need to try so couldn't comment - I've played around with it in Adobe and it does seem relatively easy to pull. Oh, and was great especially considering it was just $10 for the green board :)
Oh no, it was not YOU that prompted this test. It was that I sensed some pushback against doing GS within our own work group. I got incensed... I do that sometimes to my regret.
pushing each/trying new things is all part of the process I say :) my one concern would be that if only a few of the actors get hold of the GS and not the other it could look a little odd - although you have successfully proven it can be done relatively easily
Thanks, it may take some fancy editing to pull it off until GS can be done by everyone. Maybe with some luck we can get each of them to try it out on some test runs and we can perfect it later. I know that you are up to the task.
I'd say you're ready to move forward. Thanks for all the info -- I've been using my digital camera (it's a good one) and Windows Movie Maker (not so good) for all my vids. But I've been thinking of exploring other technologies -- other software and/or other cameras. Here's to trying new things!
Thanks Kedoke, I actually saw a video, just a little while ago, in which they were able to cobble together a plug in that will allow you to chroma key with Win Movie Maker. It looked a little clumsy, however. It is good to stretch our wings form time to time.
Best results so far. Just a little fuzzy around your head which is a focus depth of field issue. Thanks for sharing the information. Mr. Safety also uses Vegas, so your in good company. Peace.
The likely answer is that you would do as they do on TV, use pans and crossfades. If you want two on screen at the same time, they would be as small as you choose.
Great video keep up the good work.

Thanks for the test. It looked good for a first try and the real test is playing it back
on YouTube. Almost all my videos are test of something so I enjoy seeing videos when someone else is
testing out something.
