It's not embarrassing, we could easily continue using the shuttles, but they are for lifting large loads, it's a waste to use a shuttle only to put a couple of people at a time on the space station. It costs way less to use Baikonur. + Russia is our friend now so Idn why its such a big deal. Our space program is still much more extensive and advanced regardless of who is shooting ppl up anyway.
