  • Indeed, he is joking.

  • I still prefer Johnny Carson and Ed McMahon as a team together. They really hit off together. Jerry Lewis should have half as much talent as McMahon for all of his cheap shots.

  • I am so glad I was born in '59 and grew up with the best rock music from the 50's to the 80's and became a musician because of it.But I am also thankful to have grown up in an era when the old stuff from the 30's to the 50's was still being shown on tv such as Laurel and Hardy and these greats here Jerry Lewis and Ed McMahon. The younger generation now doesn't even have a clue as to what real comedy is.Too many greats to mention but even the trash they call music can't touch the greats of yester

  • Spirituality is religion. The differences are as significant as those betwixt unbelievers and nonbelievers. There is no such thing as a human atheist, as we, unlike chimps & crocodiles, deny our physical needs to contemplate and research and question. Man is not of the jungle. "Atheists" are determined, nonetheless, to deny the uniqueness and importance of Man in order to enslave him. Especially since science is in large part tax-funded, we taxpayers deserve accountability and results.

  • The elevation of scandals that involve people like Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton to front-page stories is a by-product of the breakdown of civility in American society.

Now, here's a question for you. .. Who was one of the "pioneers" in the breakdown of civilty in the American culture? Think now! Who burst on the scene in the 50s acting like a maniac, walking around like a spastic and expecting people to consider that funny, insulting people left and right onstage and on his telethons?

  • Jerry is hilarious. And he has one heck of a talent for clear, bold public speaking

  • best ever! whoever called this a slam needs a new sense of humour!

  • I met Ed years ago at a Veterans memorial he was there to talk and open the new wing of the hospital such a kind man, he stayed for hours afterwards talking with Vets and their families, one Vet i remembered was tryin to get closer to see him, the Vet had no legs inn a wheel chair, Ed noticed came down the stairs and sat next to him words were exchanged, Ed pulled out his hankerchief and was wipin the tears from the Vets eyes and his own, Ed gave him a warm hug and then he donated 50 grand =)

  • @OEKCVB

What a wonderfully heartwarming story! THANKS for posting! A lot of people dont' know Ed was a a US Marine and fighter pilot during WWII. Even though he was in ill health, I can see why he wanted to continue to help out at the annual MDA telethon. He was a big hearted guy. One wonders that he REALLY thought of Jerry's constant put downs. I know they were part of his "schtick" but I never found them amusing.

  • @JubalCalif Thank you and yes Ed was a true man he will be missed take care =)

  • LOL!...this was affectionate joking around between two old friends, the only slaming is in the imagination of the poster of the video.

  • yeh i dont think u understand wat "slamming" is, in englans slamming is hitting?? is it supposed to be that or something else?

what does it mean in america?

    reply please

  • @zandercy42 "Slamming" is basically American slang for "criticising" or "insulting".

  • That was Jerry Lewis showing his love for is dear, late friend. My lord, newsjog. See if you can fix this title. Something like "Jerry introduces and has some fun with Ed."

  • No slam here, just two pro's going at it! We all miss Ed, it just doesn't seem the same show without him.

  • LOL LOL ...love this!. And anyone who thinks it was a slam?...DAMN it's clear Jerry and Ed really were best of pals. Not the same as Jerry's connection with Dean ..but pretty close *smile*. I'd tell people who think this was a slam to get their head out of their ass.

  • I don't see slamming? I see two comedic geniuses.

  • Ed is dead and burning in Hell.

  • I loved when Ed used to come out to the Marine Corps Hymn. And no, as people have said, that's not a "slam" on Ed.

  • ed died broke..but what i love is that his slag wife now has to go get a real job like everybody else....haha ya old slag

  • @StraightTwoDVD Damn right!

  • Mr.McMahon would co-host one more MDA telethon with Mr.Lewis a year later.

  • that wasn't a "slam". what the hell?

  • JERRY IS SO HILARIOUS

  • hi............yoooooooooooo..

    this buds for u

  • we love you, Ed :)

  • R.I.P (ED)

  • ed juust passed away this morning, tuesday june 23rd 2009.he will be greatly missed and i cant imagine HOW its gonna be to Jerry this year first time without him. 1923/2009 R.I.P (E)

  • Obviously the person who posted this needs to watch a Jerry Lewis (or many Jerry Lewis) film(s)! Jerry was joking

  • Jerry was saying he did 42 shows, and Ed did 40 of them with him!!

He was being funny. It was a COMPLEMENT!!!

  • Why do people misunderstand what others say? Jerry was lauding McMahon, not slamming him! Thanks for posting, though, just rename it, please.

  • A United States Marines fighter pilot, Ed deserves our humble thanks.

  • IDIOTS!!!! its not a slam! he was teasing.40 out of 42 telethons. They are good friends.I did notice that Jerry waved his hand in the air, I think that was a signal to the hitman to murder Ed Mcmahon....

  • Ed McMahon came on Jerry's MDA show in 1967. To my recolection, it was the second year of the telethon at that time. It started with one station in New York WNEW-TV Channel 5.

Trivia: Jerry announcer the first year was none other than Johnny Olsen, later of "The Price Is Right" fame.

  • Sorry NAACP...

  • get a grip...and even if it was slamming its all in good fun... Like the Dean Martin Roasts..example: Dean Martin picks up Sammy Davis Jr in his arms and says to the audience " I want to thank the NACCP for this award".Remember these guys had to work clean all their lives not like today where our laundry is all out in the open...

  • Oh that was very cute

    I love them :)

  • ed should have waited for Jerry to move so the joke if i could walk that way id be... dancing etc otherwise don't say a joke just because its been used before its corny especially if it isn't set up right & all of Eds weren't

  • stop trying to find faults in everything jerry does just coz he has done some things that u did'nt particularly like, get over it and lighten up

  • this is a slam? you people have no concept of what comedy means to these men or their generation. idiots.

  • you are right, there is no slam, just wrong title.

  • Very well said belairjeff:)

  • Hi everyone. No slam here. it's schtick. they were both on the same page and referring to and old punchline to an old joke.

    He's just being Jerry.

    :)

  • Very well said Stephensorrentino:)

  • I remember back in '89 when I worked at the Fox Theatre, I was shocked to see that Jerry had written his autograph literally all over the walls. They had an autograph wall off stage and he just took it to a whole other level! They ended up having to repaint the walls because of it. Crazy guy but one of the best.

  • jerry is joking around...lighten up...the bonehead that posted this with a deceptive heading...is a miserable bonehead.

  • Jerry is classic but you gotta say he is an odd duck. He has done alot of good but he has quite the quirky personality. I always favored Dean Martin. I think Jerry has become pretty bitter in his old age. I give him props for doing the good things he does though. He has more talent in one finger than most comedians today in their whole body.

  • That's pretty funny. I love when the old guys lapse into vaudeville schtick. You don't get much of that anymore. (maybe that's a good thing bwah HA! heh)

  • good for these guys. i hope they do this til they drop!!!! its the best stuff left on television anyway!!! everything else is just crap!!!!! a bunch of classless no-talents today.

  • Jerry AWas looking good however ed I think finally needs to retire, he looks half dead. (still a great man though!)

  • I am a sensitive liberal dude, but Jerry's gay slur didn't bother me because this guy is sixteen thousand years old, and comes across as a little senile. He was all over the place. I still like the guy - he is one of a kind.

  • dude these videos are hilarious. Jerry Lewis doesn't care. All I know is that a couple of old guys made me laugh. Jerry is like 80 something isn't he? I find it amazing that he's still doing it.

  • It was a fucking gag between Lewis and McMann. Where did the "slam" come from?

I love how Youtube idiots like to get into the spotlight by posting crap videos like this and say Lewis is Evil, after the "anti-gay" slur made the rounds.

Again, this is a gag between the two. He did not "slam" Ed.

  • people should know when to retire

  • Hey shit head....

This wasn't work. It was a Labour Day telethon to raise money for muscular dystrophy.

What? Oh, you're a mean spirited bastard who has neither no respect or a life. Sad lil' boy.
