  • It's probably my fault that he never had a number 1 hit, in UK Me and people like me simply could not afford to buy these records. But we realised that they were great.Love you Gene. thanks for half a century of absolute enjoyment.

  • The best ballad by far ,god bless you gene

  • great song and video, Thank you for posting

  • geweldig mooi liedje

    fa 1946

  • I am not interested in the colour of a singer, only in his music.

Little Richard stole the style of Esquerita who was the originator of that type of music. If you are unknown with that .You can hear Richard Penniman admit that this was the case on a cd on Bear Famaily records In the time Penniman was singin' gospel Eskew Reeder was busy with his famous Rockstyle.

Besides that one does not need a hitrecord to become immortal! So many wellknown stars with hits are completely forgotten.

  • b side 2 pistol packin mama-enjoy cos it doesnt get much better than this!!!!!

  • BEAUTIFUL

  • The best white voice in rock'nroll !!

  • @rocknroll56able

Come on... this has nothing to do with Rock and Roll, This is an orchestra with a nice singin' guy. Rock and Roll is ESQUERITA and not this commercial shit, allthough he is singin'great!

  • @jt123egypte Esquerita wasn't white fella and noway was he as good as Little Richard...i don't think he had one single hit.this isn't rock n roll you are right but gene made many great rock n roll records.

  • @jt123egypte Some of Gene's best songs were ballads.. He is known to be the beginning of Rock and Roll and he should be..

  • wow that was cool indeed, to think he lived in chronic pain all that time and still ripped it up for the world, never again to see in this world, what a waste and loss for music.

  • I will always believe that Gene had a voice meant to sing beautiful love ballads. He was at his very best when singing beautiful love songs.

  • very very nice song gene

  • No one does melancholy better than Gene Vincent !

  • Georgie Fame on piano.

  • what a great singer

  • This was on the flip side of "Pistol Packin` Mama" a haunting ballad, that GV was so good at .

  • Well, one is rather accustomed to comment about Buddy Holly by February 3rd; but one is also urged to share the emotion felt from hearing one of the most beutiful voices ever performing such a jewel. Thanks both for your posts and for your fantastic website!

  • This song is a treasure, but so is Gene.

    Sweet Gene forever

  • Sweet Gene, this is awesome!

  • Wow thanks for posting! I've never heard this song before now.

  • Wow.

Thanks for posting this, I was completely unaware of Gene and his music -great artist, great music.

  • One of Gene Vincents Great Ballads

Huge following of Fans now as when alive

It has always astounded me how this Great Artist never had a No.1 in UK

Not even a record in UK Top 10

    Highest Ever No. 16

Goes to Prove To Be One of The Best You Don't need Chart Success

My own personal feelings is he never got over losing his great friend Eddie Cochran

Touring in those days very long journeys & tiring & without his friend Lonely + pain from leg.

    But A TRUE ARTIST

As once on Stage Always Gave His Best

  • This is a very moving song, especially when you think it was recorded 11 May 1960, only a few weeks after he was involved in the car crash that killed his friend Eddie Cochran. R.I.P.

  • Having listened to Gene for over 30yrs this song is still one of the finest ballads the great man ever recorded.

    Thank You and God Bless

  • trop beau, c'est lui le seul Roi du R'N'R

  • you know, his songs like this, bring a tear to ones eye, they have So much emotion!

  • As a kid I preferred the faster songs by Gene to these slow, sentimental numbers, but now I'm an old(er) man they hit me over the head with their beauty and sincerity.

  • une des plus belle voix...merci Gene,RIP.

  • Superbe voix, magnifique,à écouter sans modération

    genial!

  • Cant remeber how many times i listened to this as a 7-8 yr old. On my dads Dansette. If i recall it was the B Side to Pistol packin Mama. I grew up listening to Gene Eddie Cochran and Fats Domino. Dont get any better than that.
