If I'm not mistaken the point of these ads is to ridicule the nature of the real "swift boat" style attack ads - no matter who they are directed agaisnt. It's a preemptive move. If we see how silly they are then we won't take them so seriously and perhaps they won't be used anymore. Obviously many people take even the satire seriously which shows that America still has a long way to go in developing its critical thinking powers.
