I don't understand how he is raising his right foot to get that bass tone without letting the bucket get away from him. Also, is he getting a different sound from the bucket hitting the floor when he puts his foot back down, or the change in sound only from getting a different bass tone when striking the center of the top of the bucket? I bucket drum in NYC and am having technical difficulties. I want to play like this, and believe I can.

i can feel your point of view, but do not forget one of the original reasons for dance is personal expression. the so called "vulgar" movements are natural, almost instinctual to humans. even infant, not even year old babies that cant walk yet have been recorded "shakin' it". and if someone chooses to look down on an entire ethnicity because of how that ethnicity may dance, that person is poorly misguided & has the problem, not the dancers. dance is one of the last forms of universal language.
