@3camaros73 LOL. Your comment makes me laugh a bit. This clip was recorded in the mid-90's and was shown on hundreds of Tornado/Sever Weather shows up to the mid 2000's. Your whining is invalid.
A few week ago I had winds like this at my apt in charlotte. We rarely get severe storms and I've never see anything like that before. It lasted about 10 sec and managed to knock down 50 percent of the trees behind my apt. I tried to film it but it was over before I got my camera. I'd guess the winds were 100-120mph.
Oh awesome post 'SlayerNumero2' I can all but feel the power of that storm, must of been nerve racking & exhilerating to experience, all at the same time! thanks for sharing, stay safe! x
A derecho (from Spanish: "derecho" meaning "straight") is a widespread and long-lived, violent convectively induced straight-line windstorm that is associated with a fast-moving band of severe thunderstorms in the form of a squall line usually taking the form of a bow echo. Derechos blow in the direction of movement of their associated storms, similar to a gust front, except that the wind is sustained and generally increases in strength behind the "gust" front.
Hey I know for a fact there is much more to this video. I have it on a VHS tape I got a long time ago about Tornados. This storm leveled acres of trees and if you could see the whole video you would see these trees being ripped apart. I hope someone can post the whole thing cause it is a sight to see.
We had a storm like that on July 13 1995,hit at 4 in the afternoon.I went outside and the sky was absolutely black and the birds were all silent. There was a huge gray horizontal rolling doughnut shaped cloud just above the treetops and more clouds that seemed to come up from the ground(dust getting picked up)Then you could hear this approaching roar across the fields, louder then Boom! The trees just bent over like a dog shaking a rag doll, temp dropped 20deg.dust and leaves were just whipping
We had a 100year old barn go down, the roof peeled off like a banana and the rest just crashed into a heap, remains were scattered over 90 acres.12"barn beams cracked like matchsticks. The neighbours 30foot steel grain bins looked like krinkled pop cans,a cement silo went down and trees were just massacred everywhere. The woodlands looked like someone dragged a giant rake through, small skinny trees all bent horizontally the same way,big ones crashed down on top of each other like dominoes-scary
I'm a storm chaser and have been in hurricanes from Cat. 1-4. These wind gusts were near 90 mph. This is what I believe was called the Packwash Blowdown
What year was this video taken in? I live in MN and I recall hearing on the news about all the trees that got blown down in the northern forests of the state, it was a huge disaster. This would be a few years ago. I think the storm was one of those big bowed-out-line types.
This is a good one as far as sound is concerned. It's just not long enough. It also sounds kind of violent. I didn't know that storms had personality, hmmm.
Now i dont laugh at MANY comments...but that was fuckin hilarious...idk if you were just trying to be funny...(if so you get MAD kudos from me)...or if your really THAT stupid...in which case you get extreme pity...

Hey Weedmemate......
This is not a Microburst as you so claim...instead what you see on this vid are Straight Line Winds.....By far the strongest surface winds outside of RFD on the Backside of a Tornado.....
Do some research before you make a claim to something you obviously know nothing about !!!!
What!? Microbursts cause straight-line winds....This video was in Tornado Video Classics - Its a film of a microburst/derecho event in Canada. Do your reasearch before you tell others to.
I like your wild storm video. We had a storm last year around here that was similar. Come check out my storm video from this year at westviewhomeandyard . Not as wild as yours though.
i had a thunder storm like this execept the wind lasted for about 10 min and then it was just lightning... my dad has a wind thing and it was reading the wind to be 113 mph!!! it was awsome but we get storms like that like 5 every summer :)
I have seen this in it's full length and it's amazing, but cannot find it online. It is straightline winds or a derecho. Derecho's are very destructive due to their longevity and size. This event is well documented along with many others on the NOAA's site, plus TONS of images. SPC dot NOAA dot GOV backslash MISC backslash AbtDerechos backslash DERECHOFACTS Derechos have quite a rep in the northern tier of the US and south Canada into the northeastern US. They can occur elsewhere as well.
looks like it was filmed in the mountains because of those trees that look like pine tree's, I've heard of micro bursts happening here in Big Bear...... but I've never seen one until now... if this really is a micro burst up in the woods.
That appears to be a derecho. Microbursts are very isolated in nature, derechos cover a much broader area. If this windstorm took down an entire forest, it was not a microburst. Both phenomena can be hell on earth.
That is a pretty cool video, but you might want to brush up on your microburst knowledge. "cloud material rushing to the ground" when a storm collapses(?) isn't quite correct..
That is a very scary video. The winds looked to certainly be around 150kph (93mph) or may be even worse (possibly ~100mph). One thing's for sure though...I would NOT want to be trapped in a pine forest during that!
That was certainly a downbursting or collapsing storm. I've been in one and you can't hear anything. It even shot water under the door and knocked out power for a whole day.. I think a really strong one is less common than a Tornado almost but their like hurricanes.
wow that was soooooo cool and scary! that happened at my school in Mississippi when I was in 5th grade, a microburst, it busted all the windows out of my class room it was the scariest thing i have even been through I think....
this was shot in Kenora which is my hometown in Canada and it usually is never like this but it happened once and it was pretty big trees and signs were knocked over powerlines were knocked down this was a couple years ago it hasnt happened since but it was pretty amazing when it did happen
