See. In the NFR if you hit a barrel, they keep running. There is a girl who is good enough to run NFR as my local arena, but after she hits a barrel or pole, she finishes the pattern at a walk. One day she will get to the NFR and her horse will hit something, and start walking. She already beats the damn horse for hitting a pole or barrel....Someone like her doesn't deserve to own one. Another friend finishes hard and doesn't get angry. We need more riders like Laurenn...the good rider.

oh yah you shouldnt beat a horse when he knocks a barrel or pole because obviously you have qued him wrong or trained him wrong..but although you knock a barrel or pole does not make you a bad rider or horse it happens to everyone now and then.

@megzxocowgirl Yeah. Me and my horse will knock a barrel every now and then, but she pretty much pockets it nicely. I don't beat her. There have been times where she refused to turned and reared up onto it and I got angry, but I never hit her.

@WolfsRainBabe12 Well, most the time hitting a pole or barrel is the rider's fault...so why beat your horse for that? i can understand if your horse is going crazy and that's the reason you hit something that you may slow down just to make the horse chill out. But not everytime you hit the barrel. Most of the time, it's the riders fault, so you should still finish hard. You'll never get better at fast speed if you never finish hard...

@yarmilla99 I know this. That is why I posted the comment. So why are you saying like I am the one beating my horse? The only time I whip my horse is with a fuzz ball at the end of a rope to push her. She often just sees me flash my hand and will shoot off. I know it's the riders fault, I don't beat my horse and it's making it sound like you said I do.

@WolfsRainBabe12 Oh no! I don't mean you! I was talking about when people get after their horse for hitting a barrel or pole! Not the whipping at the end to get them to go, thats not beating. My comment is about me getting annoyed when people either beat their horse for hitting a barrel or slow them down after hitting something instead of finishing hard. Nothing against you at all. I was mainly agreeing with your comment

@XmexicanXcowgirlX They arn't a large barrel pattern. They are smaller. The larger barrel patterns, 17 and 18 is average and 16 is extraordinary.

@XmexicanXcowgirlX well it depennds on the areana. my horse would run probably a 15 in the arena above. in others we run 16's and one we run a 18, and were always within teneths of secondss within the fastest time of the day
