suspending the gas tax won't help average americans economically for two reasons: 1) supply and demand; suspending the gas tax will reduce the average price of a gallon of gas 13 - 16 cents. The lower prices will only increase demand causing the prices to creep right back up. 2) suspending the gas tax will likely result in the oil companies setting the base price of gas 5 - 7 cents higher per gallon. oil companies will profit as the economic relief will be minimal for the middle class.
