@materialgirl8707 one of the best cartoons ever made was Dugeons & Dragons and Tom and Jerry(talking or not). To bad they never finish it and they never got home all because of Uni bobby would never leave her and she would never survive in their world

I wanna known what the happened to/where did scooters sister come from? I never saw her in the muppit show, or the movies. she's only shown on this show...
this is one of those themes that you'd hear on the TV as you walked past, and you'd have "maaaahpet, baaaaybeeeeees" stuck in your head for hours afterwards D:
I loved watching this show right after Garfield back in the day. Anyone remember the Garfield quickie where these giant mutant guppies said they wanted a guest shot on the Muppet Babies? I miss tie-in references like that.
The kids of the 80's/early 90's.....Rescue Rangers, Tiny Toons, Garfield, Bugs Bunny and Tweety Show, X-Men, Fraggle Rock, Muppet Babies, The Muppet Show, Doug, Ren & Stimpy, Animaniacs, Pinky & The Brain, Super Mario Brothers Super Show, Tailspin, Darkwing Duck, Ducktails, Bobby's World, Aladdin, Goof Troop!!!
Havent heard this in a while. This brings tears to my eyes. I remember watching this with my Big brother (R.I.P) in the early 90s. I will always remember moments like these. Thanks for posting!
This was my favourite show as a child. Drove my grandmother crazy though - I used to go around telling people my my name was Piggy and all my family were pigs. O.o Needless to say, this was Not my grandma's favourite tv show...
My online name I use here is not a happy one. It references the deaths of 35 construction workers who died when the West Gate Bridge in Melbourne, Ausralia collapsed on them on October 15, 1970. It opened finally on November 15, 1978. And also references the suicide of two 16-year old "emo" girls in Melbourne, Australia on or about April 23, 2007.
I would love to think that I was wrong here. The world does need a Muppet Babies DVD set uncut. But as a human being with a realistic and a too honest view of the world, I can't see it happening anytime soon.
I could watch this awesome cartoon all day and never get tired of it! Muppet Babies rocks! ;) I wish they would put it back on TV! Weekday afternoons and esp. Sat mornings were super fun with Kermit, Piggy, Fozzie, Gonzo and the rest of the gang. I miss those days.
A DVD release for Muppet Babies is a very long time away. Even if the copyright issues can be resolved, Disney's non-existant reputation for releasing non movie titles on DVD will get in the way. Disney treat their movies with God like status and give them amazing DVD releases with heaps of bonus stuff. But they treat their TV shows like crap and hold them in a vault to die. Anyway would you want on DVD if it meant Muppet Shows seasons 4 & 5 were delayed even further for a DVD release?
@darkangel2347 Yes, I love this cartoon, and I have faith that a DVD release will be out soon. I hate all you people who say that there will never be a DVD release of this awesome cartoon.
OMG GTFO Ioved this show. I'm a big Jim Henson fan and he's the reason I went to UMD and became a writer/artist. This show brings back so many memories
omg i remember the episode where everything was about like bad luck and stuff, everybody was in trouble and were trying to knock on wood to get rid of the bad luck
If I'm not mistaken, this was the very first cartoon that featured famous cartoon characters as babies/kids (before Tiny Toons, Pup Named Scooby Doo, etc).
Sorry, no DVD release is in sight. Maybe in the year 2050 or so when the very last live action segment used in the show enters the public domain we might see a DVD (or whatever format they use then!) release. All copyrighted stuff does expire in time. This is why classical music (ie Bach, Mozart, etc) is out of copyright. And Shakespeare is never a copyright issue.
Like all Muppet shows (The Muppet Show, Muppet Babies, Fraggle Rock, etc) created by Jim Henson, these were all brought by Disney so the only place you'll see these shows now is on a Disney channel service. And given their obession with Hanna Montana and other live action teen and tween programming at the moment, I can't see this being on TV anytime soon.
I love how everyone is saying the golden age of cartoons but I remember watching this and I'm only 14! And have a really bad memory! I wish it was still on air though :(
This means pay up again or remove/use sound-a-like cover versions/re-animate/ redub/replace the copyright infringing content. This is why WKRP and Daria on DVD is missing almost all its original music and Wonder Years has never been released on DVD. And explains why Muppet Babies has no DVD release date ever!
That meant they only had permission to use the copyrighted stuff for its original network run only (for example WKRP, Daria, Happy Days, Wonder Years, etc) or use on Saturday mornings (this was for cartoons like Muppet Babies and Kidd Video). And they only had cover for existing home formats like VHS with no clauses for future formats like Blu Ray, online straming or DVD. So for "future" formats like DVD, Blu Ray or online streaming (ie Hulu, Netflix, etc) you have to pay up again!
The difference in licencing copyrighted stuff in new and old TV shows is simple. All new shows add just one sentences to their broadcast contracts. One covers the use of the paid for copyrighted item in perpetuity in any medium known now or any medium invented in the future. So a show like Glee will always be released on any "home" format now in the future UNCUT always. But in the past, to save money Network execs chose the cheap route.
Sigh the golden era of cartoons. Seems like an ancient memory now. Remember how a lotta cartoons in those days only featured the stockings of the elder characters whom you rarely see!
I remember an episode with heart shaped cookies. And the one who plays the piano was sad about not getting a cookie (or something along those lines) so he wrote asong about it. Ah memories! :( I am going to cry!
This show DESPERATELY needs a DVD release with no cuts whatsoever. If Family Guy can get clearance for all the licensed footage and parodies they get away with, why can't this show?
God, I miss being a kid so much, these shows were so great, it's kinda crazy to me when most kids know who Hannah Montana is but do not who Bugs Bunny, The Muppets or Mickey Mouse are. Classic stuff!
"Just close your eyes & make believe and you can be anywhere!"
My favorite cartoon forever! I love muppet babies! I watched this every afternoon and every Saturday morning on CBS Kids when I was a little girl. This cartoon made my childhood so sweet and beautiful.
There do exist "fan" DVD sets recorded by fans. But the quality is highly variable (some are rips straight VHS copies or straight from TV broadcasts) but as these "fan" sets will contain all the copyright affected live action sequences, it might be a risk one might take. If interested, do a internet search and you will find such "fan" DVD sets for sale.
Personally, I would accept re-doing (ie through animation or new "in house" re-shooting) of most of the segments and getting Spielberg and Lucas to agree to use the very major segments.
Almost all tpeople believe that this show will never see the light of day nf DVD or streamed (ie Netflix, Hulu) online totally uncut. We might have to accept major changes (ie Daria on DVD, had 99% of it's music replaced by cover versions or replaced) to see the Muppet Babies on DVD in ANY form. So the real issue is this. Have this show on DVD with major changes or no show at all on DVD? Now that is a tough question for anyone to answer!
WOW!!!! I can still remember this cartoon from when i was little. Its such a shame that they no longer make cartoons like this anymore. Now a days these cartoons are showing violence and swearing and what not. Its like people just stop caring after my generation and no longer care whats being aired or what kids are watching.
This made my childhood infinitely beautiful. The best cartoon ever made
