A or A2 is the best machine ever. While I have never worked on machines, my experiences as a customer have shown me that these work better than any other machine.
I have bowled with AMF's machines and Brunswick's newer GS series machines, nowhere near as reliable.
You say two things that counteract each other. You say that the BW can be deadly. This is certainly true. But, you also say this on a maintained machine. If you truly maintain a setter, than there is most likely NO chance of this ever happening
Very nice to see no duct tape holding any split deck chutes together and they (Deck Shutes) looked to be in great condition if not just recently replaced. It's the same way I operate my centers, if you spend that little extra in keeping your machines up then you can be 99.9% sure they will keep running and running during the times you need them the most....
I agree brunswick machines will take more work and they are much higher maintainence, but to say they will run better than an AMF machine i have to disagree on. Ive worked on both and they both have their share of problems and a well maintained machine either Brunswick or AMF will run about the same. One advantage of AMF is that its much less likely to destroy a bowling ball... Those ball wheels can be deadly lol
the only experience with AMF machines I have is removing them, when we are about to do a fresh install of Brunswick pinsetters. AMF 82/70 or /90 seem like a very simple machine, and with right maintenance can run very well...but that's just mho. My real experience is with A's and A-2's, and I think they take more work to run well...but will run better than the AMF 82/70l..again jmho
@SDcrooZer hey i beg to differ on the opinion that brunswick are better amf are cheaper to run parts are cheaper and if u blow clutch on a brunswick ur dead in the water. i wored on brunswick and amf i would rather work on amf anyday than work on brunswick and lets not bring up gsx what a pile horse hockey that machine is .
i think they're better mainly because they are easier to maintain. when problems do occur, they are alot easier and quicker to fix. brunswick machines are more mechanically inclined, whereas amf machines are more electrically inclined. ive heard stories of chasers getting seriously hurt on amf machines because the slightest malfunction can make them go hay-wire. speed wise, they are probably about the same (except the jet back a-2's, they are much faster than amf models.)
also, amf models all have a set speed that you can't really tamper with, whereas a-2's can be adjusted through the computer of the scoring system that the center has or by adjusting the size of the pullies (smaller pullies make the machines run quicker, bigger pullies slower)...all depends on the needs of the head mechanic.
haha..ya that can be a pain in the butt when they play with the reset button...and then complain that their machine keeps cycling lol. But I purposely have the machine cycling here...but through mechanical means...Thanks for the comment!
@djgraysoundandmusic jetback...was converted from straight a's
