Theres only one way, for your car to drift from normal grippy tyres you need no friction. if you duck tape it wont work as well. it has to have a hard surface to work. so if you put cardboard or just ductape around the actual wheel THEN it will drift.

if you just want to rip a buggy around for a few mins then yes this is a great idea but if you plan on running through a battery or to drifting your rc on the road or in a parking lot then you will be spending about the same money on tape as you would tires tires are like 15 bucks for a set of 4 with them mounted on rims are you really that cheap and belive me iv done more drifting then u ever will

using electrical tape on standard "smooth" or less grippy tyres is one of the most common methods known to RC fanatics and if you don't do this and end up spending what, $10 per wheel on drift tyres the go ahead, i'm just sayin you could do this with some second hand wheels for $10 and $1 of electrical tape....

@FirstFamilyCharger each to their own. i personally use t-drifts on my tt-01 because they last longer on the surface i run them on. if you're on an indoor track and a nice smooth surface (not tarmac) then tape works fine, but for my needs where i drift i just use drift tyres. tape is a cheap alternative

it kills your clutch ive done this before i wore out my clutch and broke a shoe and a spring dont do it and it also throw a rod in my super tiger .27 after a gallon and a half of fuel the rod went right through the engine so i cant just by a new rod ive got to buy a new engine and gess what i dont have the 176 bucks it cost to get a new one so booo whoooo for me im just saying it might be cool for the first gallon or so of fuel but when you breake your engine then u will wish you never did it

Faster spinning constantly would burn it out faster. imagine if you pulled fill throttle constantly (and can on any rc with tape on it cuz u wont need as much control) the tires spinning full speed but the car going like 1/4 speed. I'm just saying watch your tires spin speed and how much you throttle constantly.
