it's amazing how America's attempts to destroy the number one car company's good will went to shit. That's right, NASA disproved any electronic faulty issues and the federal government proved there was no link either. Typical American ideology that if you can't beat them, destroy their status. The Japanese work harder than the Americans do. So Fuck you, I'll drive my 20 year old lexus before I drive any American piece of shit.
@xmtsystems unfortunately, your one Lincoln Zephyr which you've thrown in thousands of dollars into doesn't count. Apart from regular long term maintence, there is no other fees i've paid. The reality is there are more toyota's on average in the automotive market than any other manufacturer on the road today. Making them the single most reliable car company to date. If you think otherwise youre blind, stupid or can't face the facts.
@xBaitMyScenex Doesn't count? It's an American car, built 74 years ago, and the wheels haven't fallen off yet. You stated an opinion, that "American [cars are] piece[s] of shit", and I proved you wrong. Also, saying that Japs work harder than Americans, is simply not true. You can't just state your opinion and call it fact dude. The REAL simple truth is that you're too blinded by your hatred of Americans to "face the facts", that American's can make a great product too.
@xmtsystems the average working hour of someone in the Japanese labour force is much more productive than the average American, that is fact. Similarly, on average the working hours in a day are much longer. Not an opinion, I've lived in Japan for 3 months. For you to say that it isn't true without any background info just further proves my point. I didn't say american didn't make great cars, I just had american cars in the past and they were unreliable.
@xBaitMyScenex American piece of shit? really? alright, let me take your precious Toyota, ALL OF THEIR CARS ARE BORING, and really, no more reliable than say a ford if you take care of it (or any car as long as you take good care of it). I see a whole hell of a lot more old American cars around. gas mileage angle? nope, EPA tests are out of date, name me someone who drives at 55 on the highway. Try again, and please, just enjoy the video, don't insult me with stating your opinion as fact.
@Falconsfan90 "All of their cars are boring" followed by "...don't insult me with stating your opinion as fact." Really, can't you see how you're undermining your own argument there? Also it really is no wonder you see a lot old American cars since you live in the United States.
Seriously, everyone stop presenting half truths and made up facts. Stop bickering about whether Toyota pwns all American cars or not, and let's just agree that Reliant Robins are shit! :D
@NVSNnl touche (although I do still have to say that the EPA test is outdated, the original test was developed in the 80s and hasn't changed even though driving styles have), and yes we can all agree on Reliant Robins. I did what I could with the given # of characters to throw in opinion and fact, though I did try to separate them as I could (that's what happens when you comment on a video at 3 in the morning lmao) Really, it's all about how well you take care of whatever it is that you drive :)
majority of unintended acceleration cases were caused by user error. a few were caused by floor mats. so do yourself a favor and attach the floor mats to the hooks that toyota built into the floor. you don't complain to GAP just because you fell down trying to walk with your jeans around your ankles do you...
@dastechnoviking This may be the biggest load of crap I've heard in a long time. All cars come with floor mats. Why is it people were only having this problem with Toyota? And "user error" is a really fancy way of saying, "it's the driver's fault". But unless every single one of the people who were unfortunate enough to experience this malfunction were either new drivers or a complete morons, I find this explanation a little far fetched.
Actually, Toyota Volkswagen to fight with a fly ............. now compare a toyota 70 model is the same, compare a Volswagen 70 to now, nothing to see, everything is like attempt by a child vw, toyota does not control, hi crappy.
Fail when the kid hit the dad the dad go jumping so he jump and much more a toyota corolla of the 2001 dosent make that motor sound and that commercial its not from the toyota YOU COPIED!!!!
The joke was around before there was any focus on the electronics. Who knows what was causing this Toyota that killed Darth Vader to SUA. Could have been a stuck pedal or floormat obstructing the pedal. ;)
@superamerica1981 There are still the cases of the floormats trapping the pedal and defective gas pedals that won't return back to idle position. The electronic search was to make sure there wasn't any faults with the drive by wire system. So NASA said there wasn't. Doesn't excuse the real defects and the fact Toyota tried to hide the defects to avoid an investigation and recall.
they had about 18 recalls in 14 months. double of all other car companies out there last year. and that includes Roles Royce's hood ornament malfunction. what did GM have? the power steering pump went out. that isn't much, by time you hit 10 MPH you wouldn't even notice it. the best part was that they couldn't figure it out and just kept producing the cars with the same problems. why do people still buy these crappy cars. reliability can't be the reason. 14,000,000+ recalled Toyotas.
@what77777 ok, i may be wrong with the numbers on other companies. i'd like to see the numbers of the GM recalls and what they were for. also are you adding the Pontiac vibe? i didn't and that is technically a Toyota recall. in the end i drove a few new 2011 Toyota's, Kia's, Hyundai's, Buick's, Chevy's, Dodge's, Chrysler's & fords. all were good but Toyota. it wanted to under steer, breaks were soft, it had no power & drove like a "nice" cheap car. the only good was the drive was really smooth.
@TheSwarm666X the ride does suck but there's a difference between critiquing the ride and making up bullshit about its safety. If GM/Ford were ever investigated for this unintended acceleration bullshit and forced to recall millions of cars for mats, you'd bet their numbers would be a lot higher too. Oh and Ford/GM, etc literally have thousands of more recalls in their history than Toyota and they're still the market leaders today. Recalls mean shit. Recalls in a yr means even less than shit
@what77777 i think my big problem is they are so popular but i can't see it. American cars in a lot of cases are just as reliable if not more so. i never have problems with my cars other than small problems like a fuel pump after 10 years or an alternator after 12 years. i see so many more older American cars than foreign on the road. i like to drive and have fun. i never had fun in a Toyota or Honda. side not different cars different buyers. Toyota people usually are mechanic maintained.
@what77777 sorry i rechecked the number on the # of vehicles since they "added" to already recalled numbers the data was a little off. 6,700,000+ recalls. though gm had about 3,800,000. still Toyota did count for 1/3 of all recalls last year. also Toyota had another 2,000,000+ recalls last month. Honda did 2,500,000 recalls and Nissan did 2,100,000 recalls the Asian cars didn't do well. let's go with ford they only did about 600,000 recalls. as a FACT though Hyundai is the safest car out there.
@TheSwarm666X Honda did have 2.5 million and Nissan 2.1 million recalled cars. So what? They sell a lot of cars. Hyundai is small fish in the developed world and thus don't have as many recalls and don't get half as much attention. A half dozen complaints don't generate as much interest from the NHTSA as a 100 complaints from a much more popular car.
@what77777 you have to agree though. ford is doing some really nice numbers recently. even their fiesta has a little spunk. the v6 mustang has great HP and great MPG & i hate mustangs. i am a Pontiac fan to be honest. i am fixing a 88 Firebird that someone tore to shit and left under a tree to die. other than small problems it is doing really well, especially after what it went through. the 172 engine is an extremely durable v6. you can't kill it. also the Chevy cruse is fun for a little car.
@steve9509 And that's the ONLY case PROVEN to be caused by a Toyota defect- double stacked floor mats. Read the NHTSA's report damn it! Even the NHTSA has said the vast majority they've investigated are human error, some ambiguous and one confirmed case.
@SouthshoreVice oh man, 26 people are dull because 26 people disliked the video! how original! Good thing you've got all that wit and not an ounce of dull in you. *cough*
@mattowan Oh we will. How the mighty have fallen. Apparently the giant recall was just for a few people's errors? Doubtful. The recalls just keep coming. Feels good to be on the winning side though. Thanks Toyota for completely failing :)
@ChevroletTough Read NHTSA's report? One confirmed case due to a Toyota "defect". The infamous lexus case caused by double stacked floor mats. Doesn't sound like a real problem to me.
@mattowan Are you sure, because from what I have learned, it was a manufacturer's error. The throttle position sensor on the accelerator (electronic gas pedal) was faulty, so even when the pedal came back up, the computer still got a reading as if it were still down. A Prius complaint back in 2006 even reported the car flying forward even after stopping completely. They started importing the Prius in my country a few months ago, and they all had to have the problem handled before sales started.
The Toyota acceleration problem was bogus. Youtube doesn't allow me to post links in these comments apparently, but you can google the info for yourself.
@violentbroccoli and yet again it was not toyota's fault for unintended acceleration problem. it was drivers mistake or insurance fraud :P haha epic fail.
