I hate it when people complain about how Cyclops is weak because his mutant ability is a simple one. The man is clearly a skilled hand to hand combant and kicks ass.
@Cytron1515 It's true. In one issue of the comics, Cyclops single-handedly takes on both Wolverine and I think Nightcrawler, and wins, and he's antagonizing the two, as well, so Wolverine is really out for blood. Of course, in another issue, Storm beats him one-on-one without her powers, so it's sort of hard to gauge. The only thing I don't like about Cyclops is that (for the most part) he's one of those by-the-book characters and gets annoying.
@RavenoftheBlack Storm only defeated Scott because she removed his visor and he didn't wanna risk harming anyone with his optic blasts. Cyclops by-the-book? You think that then clearly you haven't been reading comics for the past 5 years. Cyclops true was a character the boy scout defined by Jean going into the 90's but Grant Morrison and Joss Whedon changed all that. Grant darkened the character further after the Twelve he took unnecessary risks got drunk with Logan had a psychic affair.
@trans8010 Yeah, I'm not nearly as familiar with the newer stuff, only up to the mid-90s or so. But for the record, you're using "the past 5 years" as proof against the in-set character traits of a character that has been around for over 40 years. He can be as dark as he wants, it's going to take a lot overcome his boyscout image to me, at least.
@RavenoftheBlack He still has those qualities but now he takes risks Whedon slapped humor into him during his astonishing run. Which I highly recommend checking out. I have to admit after the Fatal Attractions arc I stopped reading X-men. I caught a few ishs here and there during Grant's run. It was Joss who returned me to X-men and I have to say he stripped Cyclops of his dependability of Jean and most of his boy scout role. When Logan returns in AXM 1 Scott blasts him through the window.
@RavenoftheBlack It was revealed later that Madeline Pryor was using telepathy to make Cyclops throw the fight against Storm so he would be free to spend more time with her. Cyclops has fought several of the X-men at various times, sometimes more than one at a time, and he always schools them. He's punked wolverine like 3 or 4 times.
Later on I was able to beat him with Cyclops and I almost did it without getting hit once. I really don't remember how I did it, but it involved high kicking those flying objects that comes towards him. I had to be in the far left to do this, then I counter with a optic blast.
I actually would do okay against Magneto using Psylocke, though not without extreme difficulty. With Cyclops, well, it would be virtually impossible for someone like me, who sucks, to beat Magneto.
Man, he was a difficult boss on this game. Magneto could also be considered to be far more difficult then any of his counterparts in any other X-men game, easily.
3. If you like to stay on the platforms, stay on the top left area then hit the top left metal piece then as they fly to you, jump kick forward the top right one. You can dodge the bottoms ones most of the time. Blast him here.
All good tips. I am by far the weakest with Cyclops in this battle, followed by Gambit. With the other three, I typically have no trouble at all. Good to see others still have a love of this game.
2. If he pulls metal, wait for the closest one to get pulled to Mag then jump, then hit kick half way down your jump to hit the nearby metal piece and do an air laser blast before you hit the ground. That blast will hit the bottom right metal piece. Then 80% of the time you can crouch the top left and top right metal. Then air laser shoot him.
cyclops actually defeated magneto on his own before, as well as Apocalypse on his own. which is more powerful than magneto. you have to actually read comics, to be aware of things.
magneto has his forcefield, how can cyclops beat magneto.Which comic book was it? I dont believe he beat Apocalypse and Magneto. Cyclops blasts cant hurt Apocalypse
Cyclops killed Apocalypse, but he later resurrected. Cyke also handed Magneto his ass, and killed Mr. Sinister, who also resurrected His optic blast can't hurt his brother Havoc who's immune to it, but that's it.
"The group did not realize Cyclops' true identity and they took him to Magneto's hidden citadel, where his injuries were treated. Cyclops recovered in time to contact the X-Men, direct them to the citadel, and defeat Magneto once again."
Cyclops beat Magneto in the very first issue of X-Men. Xavier told him to open his visor all the way to penetrate his force field. Magneto's force field was destroyed, and he was wounded, though as this was the first time he'd opened his visor all the way, Cyclops subsequently fell unconscious.
In fact, Cyclops has on occasion defeated his entire team of X-Men when he had to. Cyclops is basically the X-Men's Batman, in terms of planning and personality. Batman with laser eyes.
Only Juggernaut, and technically he's just a warroom hologram. With a world as vast as the Marvel universe from which to select characters and a game the size of an SNES game, there are only so many villians you can pick. Sabretooth would have been a pretty good fight, I think, but in a game like this, Mystique would be hard to do decently.
haha, I didn't even think of that! Excellent call, and it would have made more sense anyway. Never let it be said that I can't admit when I'm wrong. I certainly was.
By the way great idea to post recordings of yourself beating games onto Youtube. I've got to do that sometime. What emulator did you use to get good recording quality?
I use snes9x. It has a built-in video capture feature. The one problem is that while it does record sound, at least on my system it does not PLAY the sound as you're recording, which can be disorienting if you're not used to it. All in all, though, I think it's a good emulator.
Yes and no. The game starts off with you trying to stop construction of the Sentinels on the island of Genosia. Then you must investigate the appearance of the Brood on the far side of the island, followed by an encounter with Tusk in another area. Then you find and battle Apocalypse, who seems to be pulling the strings of events on Genosia. After you beat him, you have two training fights before finally flying to Avalon to face Magneto, who apparently plans to destroy Earth.
I'm afraid I didn't have a Sega, so I don't know if they had this title or not. But I do know that Sega had a number of X-men games and you could easily be thinking of one of them.
i never managed to kill him

I was able to beat him with Wolverine (easiest), beast, and gambit. But those last two were not easy.

Cyclops is the hardest to get a (no death) fight vs magneto but it is doable. Here's what I used.
1. Jump farthest to him near a wall, pushing him to use his energy ball, then walk under and jump shoot him with a laser shot.

not once but twice he defeated him.
