I've played in hardcore bands for years.. i'm 30.. my voice is shot from screaming, all I do is sing now.. so I totally understand these guys playing much softer shit.. you can really only play heavy shit for so long until your brain gets fried and throat starts hurting.. unless you're super humans like converge or something
Okay, so they went softer on this album. Dallas Taylor is 31 and has been screaming for how long? All of the bands that scream for a long time eventually go soft hell even chad from mudvayne did. They put more southern emphases and at first I didn't like the album but now I cant stop listening to it. If you are complaining about them losing their uniqueness go listen to memphis may fire or he is legend etc..
AWESOME, they'r rocking as usual!gotta get this cd, even though my preference is A Plea For Purging(and their new album is very good), but time to time listen these guys.
Here in lies the problem, its not a progression of Maylene because this song in particular does not sound like anything they have ever done, I'd understand them getting softer but it doesn't even sound like Dallas singing.
I've been a fan of Maylene since the beginning, but come on. First two songs are /okay/, and the rest is blehhhhh. I listened to them because they were unique, which they are no longer. And since pretty much no one comes back from bad albums, I think it's time to tip my hat and say goodbye. It was a good run, guys. Just stop now before it gets worse. Leave some dignity intact.
Dallas Taylor straight up said they did this because they were tired of touring in vans and selling tickets to their shows for 20 bucks so they wanted to sell out...literally. Dallas in Underoath is starting to look good again.
To the haters of MATSODIV: Listen. It was pretty obvious this would happen. If you kept up with Maylene since their debut and followed them up to this point, any idiot could see this coming. It's called PROGRESSION, folks. Personally, I miss Dallas' heavy vox, but I like the maturity of IV as well. I think it's a great record. If you want old Maylene, go listen to old Maylene. Just shut up about how 'they sold out' or some crap like that. These guys are artists. They do what they like to do.
This is a great album, whether you like it or not. If this was their first album, you'd like it. Stop complaining about it just because it's "different." Their old stuff rocks, but so does this! I don't care what kind of music they're playing, they're still awesome!
I've been a faithful fan of Maylene for a long time.. and nothing's changed. I love this album. Its not as "hardcore" or "metal" as before but its still a good album. Not my favourite compared to their old shit but I still love it.
fuck maylene, they just lost sooo many faithful fans (like myself) to a bunch of fuckin country old people. fuck dallas hes a pussy anyways, puts on a terrible show. bring back the fucking metal
I'll always love this band! these guys rock!!

@Rxsouthern Nah, its definitely Dallas. Listen to his old Underoath stuff or a handful of older Maylene songs.
