  • Darron42 it depends which way you look at it if your chasing then it could take longer too get addicted but I'f you were to shoot your fucked.. This is coming from someone who was hooked on crack and heroine for five years with a daily four hundred being spent I only chased never injected now I'm clean 3 years and I'm a healthy bodybuilder now there is a a way out

  • nikki sixx -3

  • Poor people

  • I am''Anti-Drug100%

  • Fuck heroin

  • Black Tar Heroin is illegally brought into the use from Mexico. US open boarder policy is destroying American. Drug lords want the dealers to target America's children in middle-high school. Drug related incarceration levels of illegals make it VERY clear - many DO NOT come to simply work.. their disregard for our laws is clear. Direct relationship between high Illegal immigrant population & record levels of American children w/drug arrests, in treatment or dead --

  • It is you who have quit. You entered rehab and went through withdrawals. I see alot of people here crediting god for curing them of herion. But it was ONLY you and a belief in god. The belief might have got you through a very rough period, but it doesn't prove god exists or any truth in the bible. Thank yourselves and your ability to learn from your mistakes and the guilt you felt for leading that lifestyle. After all, it was human emotions that made you quit, not divine intervention.

  • No, There is no government sponsored treatment here. This is a conservative state, even though I live near Boulder. There is nothing, unless of course you are wealthy. Then There is help for you. I'm angry, If I lived in Minn, or one of several states, there is hope. I'm not giving up, but there is really nowhere to go. Outpatient, does very little for an addict, Some people need to be in a facility for a period of time to get ther help they need.

  • @guitarheaven12 I am very aware of the stigma/taboo status of methadone for many people...for myself, there was no other way. I tried in-patient facilities, on more than one occasion. After using for heroin for 4 1/2 years, Methadone gave me the extra help necessary, and I was released from the hell I had put myself into. I was able to go back to school during the time I was on it, etc. Personally, I feel for some there is no other way. If you want more info/to talk, send me a message anytime. <3

  • I am so afraid for my son. He has been a Heroin addict for 2 years, His friend died 2 months ago, and Im afraid. He really does not think he needs help, but obviously does. If you have lots of money, you can get help . If not you are screwed. As a parent, My sin is not having money.. I wish I could help him.. It seems like there is only one way, he has to want to. But there is really no where to go to treatment here.

  • @guitarheaven12 -- please do not give up; are there any government sponsored half-way houses in your area?

  • @guitarheaven12 look into ibogaine research it, there is place in africa that sells it. the place is called ibogaworld im sure that ibogaine will take away 70 to 85 percent of his withdrawal after that its up to him to want to stay clean you can get it for under a 1000 compared to the prices of rehabs will charge you good luck j

  • @guitarheaven12 try to pray for him as much as you can. Because an all good superbeing is out there and is listening to you and he loves you.

  • @guitarheaven12 I was in that boat I have been clean now for over three months I needed the help and had no where to turn but really it doesnt matter you can have all the money in the world but if that person doesnt want to fix thereselves then its no use. It TAKES US TO LITTERALY HIT ROCK BOTTOM for us to wake up

  • @guitarheaven12 I was in that boat I have been clean now for over three months I needed the help and had no where to turn but really it doesnt matter you can have all the money in the world but if that person doesnt want to fix thereselves then its no use. It TAKES US TO LITTERALY HIT ROCK BOTTOM for us to wake up no one can preach to us it sucks but we have to want this! right back if you need any help!

  • @guitarheaven12 just have him go to NA or AA. it's free.

  • @rottenapplez -- I am not saying that NA, AA, CA, etc. are of no help whatsoever...but, they have a meager 3% success rate.

  • @guitarheaven12 Keep the faith i know how you both feel

  • @guitarheaven12 In my experience, having money would probably not help him or you. In fact it may only make the problem worse. He has to hit the bottom and really want to get off. He'll have to fight as hard to get off as he did to stay on it. There are various treatments and approaches. There is only one commonality, you have to have the inclination, will and shear bloody mindedness to smash through to the other side - no one can make you have that - you have to find it yourself.

    Clean 4yrs

  • lol teaspoon of heroin my ass. it's obvious she's an actor. do you realize how much heroin that is????

  • Everybody makes mistakes even if you do something as bad as heroin.... Everyone gets a second chance. And im sure god will forgive you

  • I did meth until God showed me a vision: I was taken to an alley by my collar, like a cat is picked up by its mother... by an Angel and shown tweekers (after i checked the alley .. it was the same and the pipe was there just as i saw) .. then i was lifted into the clouds and lowered into a large wide land. People were walking around but had electric skin, like lightening. Spiritual bodies. One of them touched me and the FIRE caught me. I said Jesus and was removed from HELL-STOP USING NOW!

  • @JesusgavemeHolySpiri - thank you very much for sharing your experiences with us! Your comments will help others! regards...

  • @JesusgavemeHolySpiri Nice trip

  • i get hungry on it and i dont throw up i guess evrybodies different.

  • @KOKID83 -- Back when I used, my friends and I joked that it's called "Junk" because it makes you crave junk-food. LOL!

  • so all u guys out there that are struggling...IT CAN BE DONE. IT IS NOT IMPOSSIBLE so if you are going through withdrawal then hang in 'cause the end result is well worth it. It's so hard but doable for sure. "Every junkie is like a settiing sun." so keep at it. IT CAN BE DONE!

  • no one is standing up for Herion...all opiates is are tough to quit and often these habits are prescribed by Dr.s. driving John Citizen to the street. All I'm saying is quit any opiates is not impossible. Let's talk about alcohol.

  • The 1st time high is a lie? No it's not. It feels great BUT once you have taste good luck getting off. It can be done for sure. My son quit. He died from Herion. Stay way from that shit. There's a lot of bullshit about herion. You can stop it. They make it seems though it can't be quit but it can. Valium is just as hard. They are all quittable BUT it's the life that comes with it. Hard but not impossible.

  • "my nose was running if i didnt have it" Jesus can we whine more.

  • woms are very fall into drugs

  • man i know where you are coming from my dr gave me hydromorhone and basiclly im going through the same thing you and its so fuckin hard but i have to win becase i have so much to loose. but i know i can do it. and to see that you did it i know it can be done.i know weve never metv and all that its still a litte encouraging

  • i started with oxycontin moved to heroin was doin it for a good 5 months never shot only smoked hardest thing to quit i am now 2 months off it still on medication and goin to NA meetings no matter how much u think u could handle ur addictions b4 i did opiates ive done coke and speed and everything never had a problem with gettin hooked but i promise you heroin will grab u by the balls b4 u even realize it...

  • Because it does not work like that. Your practicaly hooked from the first time. If you do it once, the fact is you are 99.99% likely to do it a second time....and a third, and so on until your on it for Life-which will more than likely be a short, and pathetic one.

  • wrong. 23% of americans who try heroin end up developing an addiction. not 99.99%, that's retarded and exaggerated.

  • I did not say you would get addicted your first time ,I said you are extreamly likely to do it again, especialy if you like the first rush. Why are you standing up for an illegal, evil drug in the first place?

  • well said my friend, people just dont understand how easy it is to get addicted, because your already addicted before you realise it then the battle is just starting-i hate what it does to people my young brother killed himself at 21 because he couldnt stand being hooked anymore.

  • I'm so sorry that happened to you.

  • thank you for your kind words.take care+stay clean

  • i wonder if this people had psicodelyc experiense if they had taken lsd shroom mescaline or dmt

  • Now that the allied nations now have control of opium farming in afghanistan, and the ability to invade any country they wish without any real legal basis - how come we're still getting a steady-flow of these narcotics from those areas of the world where the armies of the allied nations are now in control?

  • ehmmm ever thought about the government subsidized heroin production and export in North Korea?

Their leader Kim Jong Il just makes succesfull efforts to raise production of heroin in his country !, the problem didnt dissapear , it only moved a bit

  • My 17 year old son died less than 3 weeks ago from a heroin overdose. We have many unnswered questions. We understand tried it only 3 months before his death. If you are doing heroin you will eventually die. My son was new to the drug and we didnt see any signs. We are educating the best we can - but ultimately it's up the the user. If you have tried it once please get the help you need. No parent should go through this. It is Hell!

  • snoellec, we are very sorry to hear about your loss. Your comments will help save lives. Regards...

  • fThis is a great vid3o

  • don't blame the teachers, you loser

    blame only yourself

  • Fuckin junkies!

  • I hate the child 'protection' services. They don't do shit.

  • I did drugs for ten years and the last six I was shooting up heroin. Everyone had given up on me, even myself. I went to a detox center for 2 or tree weeks. There I prayed and belived I was forgiven and that God would help me. Something happened it worked. I have stayed clean for more than three years now and I never belived life could be this good. I attend narcotics anonymous meetings once or twice a week. I dont miss drugs.

  • blomstersenter, thank you very much for your excellent comments -- they will surely help others! May God Bless you and your life! Regards...

  • @blomstersenter Hello! I am from Russia. It is very difficult for me to understand the speech, 'cause it is too fast. This reel is very useful for me, but I really need the subtitles, I wuold translate with the dictionary. So please write the subtitles if you would like to help. I need your help so much. Find time, please. Thanks a lot for understanding.

  • im self destructive

  • I was mostly a drunk, but I would've shot that shit up if I had the opportunity

  • They are right, though. The first high is never matched. I was so pissed the second and third times I did it. Never went back. Only smoke pot and eat an occasional mushroom now.

  • i'm addicted to skoal - i guess i'm not so bad off

  • this good compared to some of us righton keep it that way it isnt worth it really

  • everyone loves heroin, its the feeling that life is all good, even on the shitiest of days . stay clean, i have 8 yrs off the hreoin now,

yeah the rush its what it is all about

  • Keep up the hard work.

  • Seriously, heroin or any drug is not the majority of the problems that occur in the classic drug addiction story. The problem is the reason people use drugs, i.e. depression, pressure from society. If heroin was legal and regulated and pure it would be a lot less bad.

  • I don't think that the first hit is the only high. That is not true. 2:46

  • completely agree. maybe with mdma, but opiates?? no way!!! all you have to do is take a bigger dose and i can guaranfuckingtee you'll get even HIGHER than your first time...

  • stupid bitch! its like she does not care!

  • i completley agree with blahhduhhx..... Man I hate it when people are not accountable for there actions.

  • fuck heroin!its the devils drug!!

    weed, shrooms, and xtc!!!!!!!

  • Uhm no lady, its your job your duty not to do herion, its not the teachers job to watch your ass and make sure you dont do bad things .. take care of yourself, know whats best for yourself, thats YOUR job, not your teachers.

  • i agree. I HATE it when people are not acountable for there actions.

  • im just gonna stick with weed booze ciggs acid shrooms x and salvia but nothing else cuz if u go any farther u will fuck your shit up you will fuck your shit up dont do it cuz you will always regret it

  • Jesus, I could use some smack now seeing this for the third time...dealer!

  • 2-3 seconds?

chic what kinda blk tar were you shooting?

    melt...

  • She's an actress...

  • I use heroin once or twice a month for 5 years now and I never got addicted or sick. I know people that took it for months everyday and didn't get sick when they stopped. Heroin is less dangerous than alcohol. It is not the heroin that destroys people, it is society that discriminates drugusers.

  • i couldn't agree more.

  • 09:51 scarey shit ! rock stars that became addicts make me think u know, such as keith richards, nikki out of motley etc steven tyler n joe perry...even clapton caned it. Those fellas they could afford it, until they got bored and eventually gave up: they are lucky i guess cos they never had to steal to get supplys so maybe felt less guilty about using. and my friend Drew he died 2 years ago r.i.p. his heroes were hendrix, keith moon, eric clapton, led zeppelin pink floyd.

  • WRONG! It is much , much more than just the first time high that works. In fact, I got more high way into my addiction. Please lady, unless you've been there, don't preach BS.

  • Thank you War on Drugs. WE just continue to creat myth about addicts and heroin addicts. We have created a whole set of principles to make sure that we keep this people down.We need treatment in demand. We have to start making better sense of what we are doing.PEOPLE we have to stop creating harm to these people

  • good response. These people need help they dont care if its illegal, speeding is illegal but i do it everyday even though i get popped once in a while. They need to legalize drugs and form a strategy that will benefit this country.Think about the gangs, criminals, gang enerprise, black market, corruption, terrorists that rely on just black market drug sales alone.I dont think it would cause an influx of addicts in US or anywhere .If we educate the people the right way, this would have great impact!

  • Very true, I know all too well about the cycle of opiate addiction. You are 100% accurate.

  • But for many people, that temporary relief is enough to reset your psyche.

  • People turn to heroin when their world has collapsed and there is nothing left but depression and depair. Don't knock people for it, the truth is the world is a depressing place. Some people can't handle it. Some kill themselves, others choose heroin or other drugs because it makes them feel like life is worth living. Depression is a joke to those who haven't gone through it. Just remember that.

  • A55corn, Heroin may give you a short temporary relief, but after the high, reality comes crashing down on you again and you are worse off than you were before. Heroin is not the answer to depression -- as any physician can tell you.

  • if depression is a problem then it is true that heroin is not the end-all answer. but it is a very effective temporary solution. and it's a readily available, highly afordable, and socially acceptable solution to depression, a problem that is far less socially acceptable. most young people are more comfortable trying drugs than asking for help, probably because self-medicating doesn't compromise their privacy and control over the sitution. that is, until they're begging for money to buy a fix.

  • you gatta be a stupid ass and week as hell to try that shit in the first place.

  • wtf you can get higher than your first hit!!!

hold out for a few days then inject its justhigh as the first time!!!!!!

  • No it hasn't gone away, the drug laws have made it too valuable, its stronger and cheaper now than before the drug war. its a horrible addiction, i have helped a woman detox, been there, first hand, and i will never be that horrified again. the drug problem is a health problem. take it from the cops and give it to the doctors, so people don't have to fear getting help and the courts will stop sending people who don't want help to rehab, that will free up some much needed beds I'm sure.

  • Choofmonster, You said and I quote "alcohol has more effects on the nervous system, and can cause permanent damage, but it is not physically addictive" This is complete and utter sh!t my friend. Physical Withdrawal symptoms are a sure-fire sign of a physical addiction. Alcoholics withdrawals range from mild shakes to seizures that can actually kill, A friend of mine has ben told that she can't stop drinking or she'll die, she's that addicted and heading for a long process of weaning-off

  • I am surprised they didn't talk about the terrible anxiety that accompanies being "dopesick". I am also surprised they didn't talk much about chronic pain patients becoming addicted to pain meds then Heroin. They talk about choice, but EVERYONE , has made a bad choice in their life that COULD have been disastrous. The treatment that exists for addiction sucks, prayer and God. They spend millions incarcerating them, but nobody wants to spend on REAL treatment. Thus, the revolving door prison.

  • the are the children of the whole woodstock generation, all this shit can be traced back to the fucking hippies of the 1960's, teach your children well right! that generation need a cold slap in the face!

  • so its the parents from the 60s ?

  • OMG!!!

    9:40-9:50

    The arm!!!

Oh damn... This is why I only smoke some weed somethimes!!

  • "its their job and their duty" refering to the teachers?! What a bunch a bull. Every person is responsible for themselves. Don't try to pin it on someone else.

  • i think these ppl r actors they look to healthy to b former heroin addicts!

  • I steal your soul and carve a hole right where your heart once use to be. I watch you die I see you cry it fills my soul with such delight. You are lost. You are entering a deadworld. Where ever you will turn you'll see your spirit burn, your life is over.

  • "I'm going for a nursing license."

Genius. It'll be real easy to kick the habit when you have cart-blanche access to a hospital's drugs... There's no way she'll relapse.

  • Psh, Each high is better than the next!

  • great way to die...if that's what yer into.

  • They did a study , heroin and alchohol had the same rate of addiction among people who began using ! Is alchohol that dangerous or is heroin that safe ? Why the propoganda ?

  • "...heroin and alcohol had the same rate of addiction"

Not quite: alcohol has more effects on the nervous system, and can cause permanent damage, but it is not physically addictive. Heroin is highly addictive. You can die from an overdose of either, but heroin "cold turkey" is not fatal (unlike other synthetic opioids), just unpleasant.

Safety depends on various factors, but unless you live in a country where "diamorphine" is available on prescription, DON'T TOUCH HEROIN!

  • wtf u crazy muther fuker wat ever contry u live WERE EVER U LIVE DONT TOUCH IT BECAUSE ULL JUST END UP ADDICTED AND GOIN DOWNHILL LEAVE IT WELL ALONE SMOKE A SPLIFF OR SOMETHING BUT HEROIN NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DONT B A DICK THINK OF YOUR FAMILY!

  • People get addicted to more deadly opioids; Oxycontin and Fentanyl are worse than medicinal heroin was, the main issue with 'smack' is contamination and unknown dosage.

Heroin here in Australia is cheap, pure, and more widely available than cannabis. I can live without a spliff (almost) forever, but when there are enough addicts the price of H will increase, and so will drug-related illness, death and crime. The heroin dealers got rid of all competition, and don't care about their victims.

  • Users are even less thoughtful, leaving syringes all over the place despite the 'needle exchange' system; children getting hepatitis (or worse) from needles in school playgrounds where addicts shoot up. Public dealing and use, in addition to police inaction all add up to a deadly situation, and "Methadone maintenance" has little success.

How do we get rid of the infestation, when heroin is no longer a niche drug but a scourge once again?

  • i think u misunderstood me m8, u said ...."unless you live in a country where "diamorphine" is available on prescription, DON'T TOUCH HEROIN" and im sayin WHAT THE FUCK YOUR VEIWS R FUCKED UP JUST DONT TOUCH IT IN THE FIRTS PLACE STAY WELL ALWAY HAVE A BEER HAVE A SPLIFF JUST STAY AWAY WITH H CUZ ITS THE DEVILS STUFF

  • Actually, alcohol IS physically addictive; any substance that produces a withdraw effect is catagorized as such. Also, I believe you are confusing "other synthetic opioids" with the benzodiazapine class of tranquilizers, which can produce a fatal withdraw effect.

  • its mucous membrane, not just mucuos itself. and there is no mucuos membrane in your eye lol

  • "how long did it last?"

    "a few seconds"

    what?! I dont think so

  • "The only heroin high that gives any pleasure is that first time".

Thats bollocks, why do you think ppl keep trying it day after day, it feels awesome for a long time even if youve got a habit, Im not promoting heroin, I just dont like these bits of misinformation they sneak into these videos that you dont always notice

  • Exactly! When I would get Super Dope Sick and fixed, that fix felt a 101% better then the first time I used.!

  • ITS A RARE SPECIMAN HAHAHA!

  • Geeze, another Drug Free America comercial.

  • It's not the teacher's responsibility to make sure kids don't use drugs, it's the parents responsibility and more importantly, it's the kids responsibility. Teachers are there to teach, if there is something that is obvious, then the teacher should report that but this girl is blaming her teacher for not noticing!

  • Does everyone that uses heroin nod off like every 5 seconds or are there some that use it and look and act normal as if they were sober.

  • stigmastigmastigmastigma needles gasp horror heroin taboo taboo taboo

  • Poor girl... her poor FAMILY. The shame and pain she brought them. She's been through so much. She's so pretty too. So sad... =(

  • I saw someone slamming it in his eyeball once.

  • bullshit

  • Zag het op zo'n programma over verslaving op BBC geloof ik. Die gast had geen aders meer ofzo.

  • bullshit to the eyeball thing

  • hear hear

  • the veins are to small not possible i call bullshit

  • U can put heroine in your nose, because it gets in your system through the mucous. Therefore, u can also put it in your eye, u've got a mucous there as well.

  • look kisielek, stop talking about shit you don't know. that makes you a DUMB FUCK. it's not mucous, it's the absorbent tissue in your nose. that same tissue is present in your asshole. the tissue absorbes the drug, okay? so shut the fuck up, please.

  • it's true, you can even inject morphene that way

  • bullshit x2

  • Injecting in the vitruous fluid isnt really a good idea, but I saw it myself. People can get fucked up.

  • i love heroin but i hate the consequences...

    clean for now...

  • when i did the shit i liked to snort it better people thought i was crazy but be sides the 30 sec rush u get from banging it it seems to last longer snorting it

the best high was when u spilt it up both ways

  • Whoever said nicotine withdrawls know what heroin withdrawls feel like is nuts. Both are difficult to stop, but heroin WD are 10 times worse. You don't just puke and crap. And who said you get the same high the first use of the morning just like the first high you experienced when you first tried the devils dust? Get Educated.

  • 10X worse? try a million times worse. there's nothing like heroin withdrawal

  • AMEN!

  • the women who said that you will never get the same buzz as you got with the first hit does not know what she is talking about, the first hit of the day is the same as the first hit u ever had It takes quite along time to get to that point of not feeling it any more ..Crack you'll always be chasing the first hit.

  • absolutely

  • heroin use -> heroin abuse -> misery

  • oxycontin isnt cheap ur dumb

  • Legally obtained in Australia, it is cheap due to government subsidies. I got 5 boxes the other day for some friends with cancer - total cost: $6.50 dispensing fee (and I had to show 2 forms of identification because the scripts were not mine).

Maybe on the street, prices are higher. Those with a legitimate need are not denied their medicine.

  • Oxycontin is very expensive here in the states whether it is obtained on the streets or at the pharmacy.

If a person on Oxy does NOT have insurance they are spending HUNDREDS upon HUNDREDS of dollars out of pocket per month for their pain management medications.

I know so many ppl that started on Oxy's for one reason or another and ended up on Heroin because it was cheaper.

10$ per bag VS 20$ on up per pill. You do the math.

  • Most people I know on Oxys need it - they have cancer. Only a few here misuse it as 'hillbilly heroin'. When the US/Australia Free Trade Agreement comes into full force, this may change - Congress sees our subsidies for medication as a 'cartel'.

Heroin is cheaper and more potent than ever - it has apparently halved in price since January here, whereas cannabis has doubled since then. Sad that in America, people are using street drugs because legal alternatives are too expensive.

  • So many kids here are into the "Hillbilly Heroin" as you call it. That term actually started here in the states in the Midwest because they are in fact Hillbilly's. Not really but you know how stereotypes are. For some odd reason the kids thought snorting up and shooting Oxy's was safer and better than using Heroin. Uh yeah. When the Oxy's became to expensive (and they will as you need more and more for tolerance sakes) the Heroin comes into play.

  • People here in legitimate pain are put on pain management. A team of doctor's that specialize in this regulate each patient on a case by case basis and use other methods in conjunction with the narcotics. They also have a very good detox protocol should the person come off of the PM program.

The ppl that get hooked are the ones that get narcotics for a sprained ankle from any old Md that keeps on prescribing the pills then stop with no detox.

  • So many ppl here in the states have to pick between their heart medications and their electric bill for the month. These ppl are elderly, worked hard their entire lives to retire and for what? Canada has socialized medicine and I think the USA should too! Ppl deserve medical help regardless of their status in society. Why should a baby with a heart defect get help over another in the same position because one has a lawyer mommy and the other's mommy is on welfare or works at Micky D's?

  • Both Australia and Canada's health schemes are in trouble due to years of government mismanagement. At least our system does not discriminate between wealthy and poor, everyone is covered. A premature baby would get similar care whether its parents were millionaires or welfare recipients. Perhaps a nicer room for its incubator with private cover.

  • In Connecticut ppl on welfare insurance get so much more than ppl on regular job sponsored insurance. They get free medicines VS co pays. That's the diff co pays VS no co pays. If a child on welfare insurance needs serious surgery or long term treatment they will get it.

The ppl TRULY suffering are those on Medicare (Social Security recipients). They do not get their medicines covered at all. There are programs that help them with medicines but they are not enough for the truly ill ppl.

  • I pay less for medicine when I am not working, or earning below a certain income. Poor people need drugs, too. IV drug addicts get free single-use syringes - this has cut the HIV rate amongst injecting users to 4%, compared to 25% in the US.

Most medicines are subsidized, not all - Valium and Xanax are cheap, Rohypnol and Ativan cost more because they are not considered 'essential medicines'.

  • They took away her father's oxycontin, so he became a heroin addict - long-term addictions are better handled by either tapering or (in the case of the elderly) continuation.

Oxycontin is cheap here but hard to obtain, and long-term use has known risks. I will probably flush most of the pills I got this week, the reason for taking them appears to be resolved.

Children learn by example. A parent shooting up illicit drugs in front of their child is putting them at risk in many ways.

  • How old was her father? Who is the "her" we are speaking about? The doctors do have detox protocols and a lot of times the patient chooses to stay on the opiates for one reason or another.

To give narcotics to a person in pain is so risky now a days. It usually backfires. Be in pain or not. What would you choose?

  • By "her", I was referring to the girl in the video.

Opiates are the most effective form of pain relief - they are also addictive. But there are ways to use them where tolerance/addiction are minimized or eliminated.

When it comes to drug use, common sense is vital.

  • You're correct about minimizing the addiction potential BUT as a former Heroin addict myself there comes a point in time where the amount being used does squat and more is needed and then the vicious cycle of addiction and dope sickness and detox begins and just keeps on going till you're a strung out street junkie no better than anyone else out there you once said you would "never end up like".

  • Heroin tolerance builds rapidly. I have never used it personally, and would not do so (medically-approved diamorphine excepted, if/when it becomes legal).

Perhaps doctors in Australia are more careful about who they give such pills to these days - benzodiazepines are also difficult to obtain, and a central registry exists to prevent doctor-shopping.

When tolerance builds up, I stop taking or cut down on benzos/opiates. Short-term relief is not worth the agony of addiction.

  • Am I correct to say you are on Opiates for pain relief? What happened to you?

Benzo's are wildly popular here in the states. Ppl pop em like candy! They are very easy to get and cheap on the streets or in the pharmacy. 28.00$ for 30 1mg.Klonopins or they are 1$ each on the streets. Most prefer Xanax for some reason. They pack a big bang but wear off quicker than Klonopin. The pharmacies have a system that tracks ppl receiving these types of meds to often.

  • I hurt my back recently (it seems OK now) and was taking codeine and Oxys.

I pay $5 per script for a generic benzo, a few dollars more for the 'name brand'. I never use them more than 2-3 nights in a row - tolerance/addiction set in rapidly, and the rebound-insomnia is worse than the natural version, as are the lucid dreams that result from withdrawal.

The hardest addiction I have battled with is nicotine.

  • Back pain is the worst. It seems to never go away and gets progressively worse as time goes on. Almost everyone I know that has addiction issues started out with back pain.

I am glad to hear that you know when to lay off the pills. That is incredible. But I am also happy that you get a smidgen of a taste as to what addicts go through too. You know and can draw the line therefor you prevent full blown addiction.

  • Nicotine is as hard to quit as Heroin is. They both attach themselves onto the brains receptors and when they are denied they "SCREAM" for their drugs be it H or Nicotine.

That is why ppl have an incredibly hard time quitting and suffer. Serious Nicotine withdrawal mimics Heroin withdrawals. In a way ppl suffering from Nic withdrawals know what H withdrawals feel like. Except they don't puke and crap their pants and shake uncontrollably.

  • It's the quick hit of dopamine - even knowing how deadly smoking is in the long-term, it is hard to stop. Cigarettes kill more people each year than car accidents, alcohol and illegal drugs combined.

It is an expensive ($12.50 per pack, mostly tax) and dangerous habit, but very difficult once it gets a grip. The social stigma applied to smokers is huge now, indoor smoking bans apply everywhere in public.
