This show was unique in that it was two back to back 30 minute episodes the second one on the following night - the end of the first program would always show Batman and Robin in some sort of impossible situation that they couldn't get out of and then left you hanging until tomorrow night LOL

I enjoyed watching this show when I was a kid even though it was a parody of the original Bob Kane characters. The later "Dark Knight" movies were actually closer to what the character was supposed to be - sort of an outside-the-law vigilante helping the police but yet a dark and shady character himself

not really. at first kane made batman dark, but then he made him "campy". the 60's batman is spot on to the comics.the later movies are more a frank miller thing.

@jetflock The reason why they made Batman more silly and campy later was because parents complained.

Batman and the comics were dark, violent and very similar to how batman is today in the beginning but they were forced to change it.

Now batman is pretty much like he was originally supposed to be like.

Some things in the very beginning was different like that Batman killed and used guns but that got changed to the batman that refuses to kill and hates guns almost right away after his creation

Thats sorta true, but not entirely. Bob Kane's Batman was dark and then went "camp" as a natural evolution. And the "new" Batman IS NOT like Kane's original Batman. Kane's was a badass- and then an unbelievable fun colorful and funny Batman. The original Batman was human, smoked, used guns, killed and had actual relationships with women. The 60's TV show was exactly the comics of the time, and saying that- the perfect translation of Batman. Batman '89 and NolanBatman are "Miller".

@jetflock I heard they made it more silly and campy because many people and parents was complaining that comics are dangerous and violent and would ruin the minds of kids so they were forced to make it more kid friendly.

Also heard Kane and the others decided to change Batman early after he was created into the Batman that hates guns and refuses to kill he is today when the comic was still dark and violent.

Dont think he was the gun using Batman that kills for very long.

Kane willingly made him a killer and then willingly made him campy. I have stacks of Batman reprints from the 30's on. The only dark Batman I like is the original, otherwise I love the colorful "Sprang-esque" stuff. The thing about modern Batman is, he is completely too serious for a superhero that you can't take seriously. He doesn't work in the real world. Original Batman would shoot new Batman in the face and then go out on a date with Julie.

Batman is the superhero you can take by far the most seriously of all the superheroes.

Hes the most realistic of them all and hes the superhero with the best story and depth.

That hes not completely realistic does not change the fact that hes way more realistic than mosat of the other superheroes.

And he dresses like a bat to make the criminals think hes some kind of monster so they will be scared of him and be easier to defeat actually.

Hes the only superhero i can think of right now that uses a costume for other reasons than to look cool.
