I cannot put into words how much I adore the aural aesthetic of this song. The beat-up, 80s-futuristic images that come to mind...A mesh of reality, this film, other late 70s, early 80s films. I love it.

Tangerine dream eh, Sweet, privlidged to be in my early teens in the eighties, when little gems were on the go, I think the naughties and the start of this decade suck when it comes to instrumental tracks, TANGERINE DREAM RULE.

Tangerine Dream is finally being recognized for the band they where and are! And Drew was such a cutie in this film, you couldn't help but fall in love with her in one of Stephen Kings most overlooked novels: Firestarter!

@blagit23 I agree. This is a gem. It fits right there in between the "Risky Business" soundtrack and the "Legend" soundtrack of Tangerine Dream. To tell you the truth, I had no idea this was a Tangerine Dream musical sequence until now. I was just looking for the Firestarter movie theme and I found it and performed by them!

I found this by accident the other day when I was looking for Tangram, and I thought WOW!! So I search through my thousands of old VHS videos and eventually stumbled upon this gem of a film. I remember the first time my sister hired it out in 85, and asked me who did the music because I was in the bog and missed some of the opening credits. She was trying to catch me out because she knew I was mad about 'The Dream' at the time, and still are.

Wow! SCI-FI/Thriller classic from the old good 80s. Drew Barrymore showed brilliant acting. The same with David Keith and Martin Sheen. Drew was the best kid actor I've ever seen - way better than Macaulay Culkin, Elijah Wood and Dakota Fanning together.

Firestarter was superb film.

Hey thanks N89K for posting this!! Could you post the rest of the tracks please?? This soundtrack has a personal meaning since a loved one passed away and this is the soundtrack I had at the time that reminds me of the good times I had with my grandmother. Quite a few of the 'soundtracks' that TD did are on the box set "Tangents". You might be able to hunt down a copy of that set. I remember at least three came from Firestarter, a couple from Risky Business, and I think the main theme from Legend is on it as well.

That's true. I think the tracks from Firestarter are Charly's Theme, Highway Patrol, and one other. I'd have to look at my iTunes library to check.

I bought the cassette soundtrack in the late 80s, but some of the tracks are slightly different from what is in the movie. Actually I then rented the LaserDisc and hooked it up to my stereo and recorded some of the music. It sounded good but havent seen that cassette in 20 years. This music brings back memories to me too.
