  • This version beats the Nick Lowe original

  • what a band... what a beautiful singing...

  • Seems a lot like "I Ain't Never Satisfied" by Steve Earle.

  • If this video brings a few Desert Rose fans to know Nick Lowe, that's a good thing.

Nick Lowe wrote "What's so funny about Peace Love and Understanding" for Elvis Costello, "Cruel to be Kind", performed "I knew the Bride..." with Dave Edmunds, and played some delicious bass on John Hiatt's "Bring The Family" alongside Jim Keltner and Ry Cooder.

Wonderful guy and he's still evolving as a musician.

  • Love this song among others that the band has released.

  • Rudy Sr's tunage, awesome stuff....RIP Dad....

  • This was written by John Hiatt. Although Nick Lowe is not 'better' than The Desert Rose Band, neither is The Desert Rose Band 'better than Nick Lowe. Different types of artists. Nick the Knifes version of this song is every bit as good and in some areas better.

  • This is one the Greatest bands in the world and I mean that i've got All of their albums them and The Maverick i Seem to Listen to them all the time Great music and you can't hear this kind of Country Anymore but it's a great thing we can All still watch this stuff on websites like this keep old country alive.

  • The Desert Rose Band will be at the Rocky Mountain Music Festival in Littleton Colorado on Aug. 28th.

  • I'm Ron Burgundy?

  • So who wrote this? Nick Lowe or the Desert Rose Band? (or someone else?) Great song. We're going to see Chris Hillman & Herb Pedersen in about two weeks....

  • @no1cares214 Nick Lowe is not better than Chris Hillman and The Desert Rose Band. How do we know you're not really Nick Lowe using a name disguise to promote his overrated work?

  • Great song!

Greetings from the center of Brazil.

  • Desert Rose Band rocks, Do you have "The One That Got Away?" It is one of their best.

  • Today's so-called country fans could sure use a dosage of the Desert Rose Band and learn what great musicianship is,because it's demonstrated tenfold here.

  • This band was 5 years ahead of its time........they just barely missed the 90s country explosion where they would have KILLED it

  • Hey, guys, you hit #3 in Billboard, 6-10-89. Don't take this the wrong way, but, God bless y'all!

  • This was when country music was good. When you can listen to songs over and over again and dont feel burned out on them. When songs had MEANING!

  • @maymay227 I second that. This song is just a taste of what REAL country is....

  • GREAT STUFF!! Thank you so much for this great post of an outstanding band! Can John play wicked guitar and can Chris sing flawless lead vocal!!! Awesome song...awesome band! Thank you.

  • waooooo! Now this is the greatest piece of shit I´ve ever heard!

  • This is country rock at its finest.

  • This song brings me back to cutting wheat when I was a little kid. Its funny how a song can bring back a random time in your life. Much more care free back then!

  • grammar fail

  • the best one ever..best best best....

  • YES!!!!

  • great song now if it was true.

  • what happened to this band? grandma used to have this on her TV set all the time.

  • @imachildofthe80s8089 They are going to be touring again starting in May. You can find the dates and where they will be at on Chris Hillman's and John Jorgenson's web sites.

  • Nick did the best version of this song. Boy can John Hiatt write a song...

  • El guitarrista que esta detrás de melenas se parece al tenista argentino Juan Martín del Potro. ¿No os parece?

  • This video reminds me of my ex-girlfriend Annie. My god, she doesnt love nobody. I swear!!!

TDRB is exactly explaining the truth between love and lust. Keep on goin' you good ol' boys!!!

  • And who is it you think they are covering?

  • I know they are covering Nick Lowe.

  • How warped. Hiatt wrote the song, dipshit. READ THE LABEL AND COVER NOTES. You dillweed.

  • I have Nick Lowe's version on LP. It's cool that Hiatt wrote it, but I dont see anywhere that John Hiatt actually recorded this song. I checked the website. Is it possible he wrote it for Nick Lowe?

  • I loved, loved this era of country music - The Desert Rose Band, Southern Pacific, etc There are a few out there today that I will listen to but not many.

  • It's a shame they had to disband...

  • 0:15 - 0:18 Is that Will Ferrell?

Haha Joking but they do look similar

  • lol, that is funny. There is a song on youtube that came out years later that has a similar sound too it. it is called "Every Time She Passes By" sung by George Ducas. It would be cool to hear a mash-up of the two songs since they have a similar sound listen to it and you will hear what i am talking about.

  • Wow, I know both of these songs, yet never put 2 and 2 together. The melodies really sound very similar. Good catch.
