My desk.. Isn't a desk. It's a CRT monitor sitting 3 feet or more away from me on a plastic storage bin on a carpeted floor. The tower sits on a paper shipping box from fedex beside the plastic storage bin. And my chair isn't a chair. I'm on the floor leaning against a large cloth covered foam reading chair with arms and no bottom. Keyboard in lap.. Mouse on my right hand and I rest my arm and mouse on a Shoebox. Brown Nike box. I've used this set-up for 2 years. It may suck but It's mine.

open up the computer and check your heat sink. it may be full of dust which would cause the cpu to get very hot, if thats the case just vacuum it out. if that isn't it then maybe the fan is broke...although i don't think windows will run if the fan cpu fan isn't working properly.
