I love the way the manned part can blast away to safety if things start to go wrong during launch - must be quite comforting for the cosmonauts even tho these are very reliable rockets.
What's the deal with whose space program is better? Who cares?
Both the Russians and Americans are partners in the International Space Station and will hopefully continue to work together for the betterment of mankind.
The future in space is about partnerships to accomplish together what one nation alone can't do.
the way they transport their vehicles is a lot more effective and efficient than the crawlers that nasa use. nasa ones go about 4 miles an hour or something stupid like that good video (Y)
yea train is much better. And NASA's that huge thing goes exactly 1 mph. and they can move it only form the VAB to launch pad, thats it. Russians can take it anywhere
@skatebmxtom one problem. You can move huge rockets lying down and then lift them over. The soyuz is not that big. The Saturn and Shuttle are. When the russians tried to launch the N1 (their equivalent of the Saturn V) they had endless problems with cracking caused by horizontal rail handling.
@DumbYankies Various required stages can be built horizontally in different assembly halls, delivered horizontally by locomotive, and then hoisted into position by a crane apparatus that never leaves the vicinity of its launch pad.
Personally I can do without a theatrical pagan phallic symbol display. It does nothing for me, and America is bankrupt and can’t afford profligacy.
@skatebmxtom sorry that should have been "cant" move big rockets horizontally. Dont get me wrong, for something in the soyuz class it makes sense. The old US titan and new US falcon work the same way.
@skatebmxtom NASA is a big phallic symbol display of Bread & Circuses for the slaves. The program itself has been so watered down, that what remains is a travesty; a mockery.
i really dont know if russian space agency is better than nasa but anyway all the contributions in the space for part of the countries its just amazing!! i know that a lot of the technology that is use in the wars are involved but i just want to think as a manking and have been in kennedy space center was the best thing that i lived and because im mexican maybe never been i baikonur but i want to believe that is the same than kennedy space center just amazing!!
amazing

yes and russians are expanding out with partnerships with esa and the new soyuz launch pad in kourou
skatebmxtom 2 years ago
The crawlers carry a much larger and heavier launch vehicle.
The railway works well for Soyuz and Proton as they are erected at the launch pad. The crawler platform is the US launch pad. Both designs work well.
artwleb 2 years ago
@skatebmxtom nasa uses these slow crawlers because their too lazy to transport the rocket to the launch site and THEN mount the rocket on it.
of course this method is a lot more effective.

even though I hate russia I will say that they are best at this. Really nice and so much better then NASA.
One more thing. Why This rockets does not have any smoke? The one with shuttles leaves a huge trail of smoke
chernobila 3 years ago
i think they use kerosene as the fuel unlike the shuttle which uses solid boosters
tagaEskinita 2 years ago
which one is more efficient? I mean less mass more energy?
chernobila 2 years ago
its not really more powerful than say the space shuttle, but its cheaper, so in the same ammount of money, you can fly more missions to space
tagaEskinita 2 years ago
well that makes it efficient in some way and I think it the way to go. everybody remembers Pepcon disaster after all
chernobila 2 years ago
awesome.....much safer than the shuttle
