Then the hope/ memory of being in eachother's presence in the baggage claim, note the lack of outward joy, just numb relief, this moment is represented with a warmer, softer light. However, the present experience is a darker place. The miles that seperate the two makes the man feel helpless, represented by the paper aeroplane's inability to span the ocean.
