Indoor housing, heating/lighting, outdoor housing, feeding, health, feel free to add more but do those first in that order the 3 people with the most pages added that are exactly like i said get to be admins please help me this is at my wikia called tortoise care sheet wikia
can anyone answer my question please: i have a 10 aquarium with a screen lid is that good for a baby crested gecko? i want one but cant afford petsmarts prices on tall tanks which go for about $69 for the smallest
Ok so ive had a crested gecko for a while and the first couple weeks i had hime he didnt mind me holding him. However since that first few weeks he wont have anything to do with me and he hides whenever i am near the terrarium. On top of that he seems to be unhappy. Do you know any way i can make him like me??
@LonleyTearDropz hmm try spelling right before you go mouthing off like that. and i wish i could get more animals but i CANT! money is tight. unnecessary comment. i dont support my pet smart so i dont buy there. and i actually do ATLEAST 4 MONTHS of research and test myself before i go and buy one. i actually keep reptiles for the fun of the hobby not to show off to my friends... and i learn so you dont need to act like your "cool" cause "cool" poeple dont pick fights over the internet,
@LonleyTearDropz he has a substrate. its paper towel he does know what hes talking about because he got his facts correct. the BABY will get stressed out if the tank is bigger and taller than that. for a baby that is a PERFECT setup. take a look at my crested gecko care if you need more information
@downthebeatenpath , if they are nocturnal...are they active at all during the day? i notice that this video was filmed during the day, but did you wake him up or are they just less active?
you should put your crested in a bigger enclosure just saying no offense and that baby does not look like a baby its a juvi please research some more and a trio needs more than a 29
if they are nocturnal what would be ideal times to handle them im 14 turning 15 in september and im thinking about buying a crested/leapoard but seeing as i spend 6 hours a day at school would evening times be a good idea or daytime (because i plan on making my tame)? please reply someone?
@RadioheadHim It doesnt really matter and unless you have a daylight bulb in there they wont be "nocturnal" my leopard gecko comes out whenever he feels like it.
@RadioheadHim Like TheJokeNetwork, my leo[s] come out when they want, and I'm still in school. Leo's are fine being held at night, or during the day. Holding them 10-15 minutes a day [once they're 5"+ baby handling should be minimal] they should get tame pretty soon. They even recognize your voice.
Why does people feed their crested geckos baby food? Cresties need only CGD (Crested Gecko Diet). Crickets are not necessary if you feed CGD, only for occasional snacks.
Also, its great you don't use things like bark as a substrate. This is a wise move, because crested geckos really are clumsy hunters and when feeding live food frequently pick up the substrate.
Overall I think your video is pretty informative, nice attempt ;)
I personally wouldn't advise using a screen/ material mesh set ups. These provide too much ventilation and it can be very difficult to control the humidity. It is possible to keep one this way but it might require a good soaking twice daily.
Unfortunately you aren't giving it a balanced diet with just crickets and baby food...Cut out the baby food and replace it with CGD. Personally don't feed crickets more than twice a week, 2-4 at a time.
@BigJaneTwister nah not really, unless the temperature in the place you're keeping him in drop below 70 degrees during the day. however with mine I use a 20 watt bulb just for light so the tank looks more pleasing.
Hey im getting a crested gecko and i have a 55 gallon tank with a heat light heat pad and stuff,By chance could i put a crested gecko with a leopard gecko?
you forgot one of the most important things about cresties...they jump. hold them not more than a few inches off of a solid surface to prevent injury if they decide to do what yours did. unfortunately, you were about 3 foot in the air and he smacked the ground every time :P
@kidreptiles19 I just thought I'd comment, this has been proven to be untrue. On the forum I'm on, several people have commented about dropping eggs, and not knowing what side was up and the eggs live. One guy even specifically rotated the egg around once a week and the eggs still hatched. I wouldn't advise rotating the eggs constantly, but it won't kill them if they are moved.
@TheGrizbot An adult gecko needs at least a 20 gallon tank, idk if you mean adult or baby. But you need alot of climbing material and baby/ juvenile geckos should have papertowel as a substrate, so they dong accidently ingest anything that will impact them and kill them. They dont need extra heat!!
I just got my new crested gecko. i have a 18Lx12Wx20H and he/she loves it. but i think he lost his stick he cant climb on the plastic/glass sides. how can he get his stick back, please help.
I'm sorry but you should always have crested gecko diet avaliable for your crestie especially babys and juvies, and in my 9 years of crestie experience u should offer 2 week old crickets every day with cgd when babys and juvies but when adults offer 3 week old crickets every 2-3 day along with cgd and u can offer fruit once a month or wax worms once a month because they're very fattening and please never feed them baby food it's very in healthy lowfat sugar free yogurt is better
hoyl crap dude dont let them jump like that they will die if you keep letting them jump from that hight there frkin babies take care of him he probobly has a broken leg lol just dont let him jump from big hights it can hert him
@MonkeyBoy3000ii Don't know if I'd say friendly, but unlike most arboreal geckos, these are very dosile. Most don't mind being held if you work with them (much like you would with a leo) you should be very careful though, as you can see here, they do jump a lot.
@MrRavekid Acctually, scince they don't need that big of a cage, and they get stressed out if the temp is higher than 85 deggres, they really don't need either. If you have them in a room with another reptile just use the room temp from the air ventalation. And they don't need uvb or uva bulbs either cuz their mostly nocturnal. (suprising huh?) I would just take it outside every day for a few minutes if you get one. So you pretty much just need the cage.
@reptilesnfoods yeah idk wat i was thinking lol if i was to ever get more cresties i waould have 3 max per tank lol i think i commented on a late night :p
HELP ME! after months of research I have recently bought a crested gecko at an expo. it is about 3 months old and i have him housed in an 18 x 18 x 24 exo terra. i have only had him for two and a half days and i am trying to feed him repashy CGD but he doesn't seem to ever eat it. i feed it in a bottle cap however he doesn't eat it. i realize it is not uncommon for them to not eat for the first week in a new enclosure but it still worries me. ANY TIPS PLEASE?
@sprodude u cn have, i would say max 6 MAX but i mean, no males together, so max it would be eaither 1 male and 5 females or 6 females, but that is my opinion.
Arboreal = They live up in foliage and trees. They go on the ground rarely. In the case of Crested Geckos they go on the ground too feed on overly ripe fruits.
i got my 12 week old in a exo terra 18x18x24, but put about five bottle tops with food in, seems to be loving it, and is eating the food too, as long as theres enough food put around they will find it , and have a good sense of smell anyway so will sniff it out, :o)
its not just about finding their food when their tank is too big they burn way more calories than they eat therefor its really hard for them to gain weight

i got my 12 week old in a exo terra 18x18x24, but put about five bottle tops with food in, seems to be loving it, and is eating the food too, as long as theres enough food put around they will find it , and have a good sense of smell anyway so will sniff it out, :o)

its not just about finding their food when their tank is too big they burn way more calories than they eat therefor its really hard for them to gain weight

good point, but like i said i put plenty in so it can be found, still doing well and growing :0)
