I was lucky enough to see a machine of this type in operation over a couple of days. It was the same pontoon design, but using a JCB 803 Super mini excavator instead. The job was to remove about 1500ton of contaminated silt from a large pond and it was fantastic to see this machine rowing itself across! The material was loaded into dump trucks with a Hitachi Zaxis 160LC long reach excavator. I can only hope I see another project like that again!
