I am nostalgic for NZ in the 1980s even though I was living in suburban DC at the time. The Chills and Verlaines were beautiful and meant the world to me. At Tramps in NYC in 1995 or -06, Martin surprised us by saying this was the last Chills show ever. Guess not, because a new album came out soon after. Still, nothing since. Sad.
like the Go-Betweens, but even more so, this band was criminally ignored. don't know why. songs too complex? NZ too far away so they couldn't tour as often? stupid public?
God Thank you for posting this! I remember stealing dads car back in the 80's to see them perform at some free Bob Geldolf concert in Auckland. Got grounded big time - wouldn't change a thing - hooked ever since. Martin tour again!!! and come to Cambridge.
