    Marian

  • Thank you very much, Marian! I'm glad you liked it and I appreciate the kind words. At first it was based on someone I knew, and then I just kind of made it about having regrets which like most people, I could relate to.

  • Thanks so much, T! I appreciate that especially since I know you have written some awesome songs written from someone else's perspective.

  • It is so weird that you mentioned the perspective thing. I have a song that I wrote years ago that I want to post that is big time from someone else's perspective called, "Shadows of Things That Were". It is pretty serious song. Maybe in the next few weeks.......anyway....I really liked your song!! t:)

  • Really good original John. You have a Great

Talent! writing in the narrative sense.

Meaning, you are an exceptional storyteller.

Great performance on Vocals, Guitar and Harmonica as usual.

  • Beautiful story John. Love that signature sound of yours. All the best.

  • Thanks very much! I wonder sometimes if the songs are becoming too similar, but I think it is kind of falling into a style so I'll go with that for now. Thanks again, and I'm glad ya like the music!

  • GREAT SONG JOHN!!! THis one would be great in a movie!!!

  • Thanks Dan! It would be such a trip to get a song in a movie! That would be a dream come true, for sure! There's a guy named Kevin Renick who wrote a song called 'Up in the Air.' When he heard there was a movie being made by the same name, he pitched the song to one of the guys making the movie. The guy took the cassette tape that Kevin made, and Kevin thought that would be the end of it. Some time later, they called him and said they would use it! If ya ever see it, it's at the very end.

  • Great song, John. Very heartfelt. I always enjoy tyour more mellow originals.

  • Thanks very much! Sometimes I want to write faster songs, but these keep coming out of me. Glad you enjoyed it!

  • Now why did I have to listen this the day after the Vikes blow a Super Bowl trip on 12 men in the huddle! I think you are clairvoyant.

  • I know! I posted it before the game, and now I realize it fits the mood for the entire state! I know you've probably heard this already but...WE SHOULD HAVE WON THAT GAME!!!

(Oh well, maybe next year....sniff sniff.)

  • I like this John- very nice ballad. Good imagery ....I liked the video editing as well.....:)

  • Thanks Brad! I got some pan and zoom effects I added to Windows Movie Maker and wanted to utilize them in this video. Mostly just to get the big fan out of view.

  • Great to hear a new original from you John. The picking is so pretty in this sad tune! Love your writing!! The sand castle part was excellent! faved*****

  • Thank you, Jane! I appreciate the kind words and I'm glad you liked the song. I was going to call the song, "Sand Castles" but thought if I went with "It's too late, anyhow," I might get more hits from folks looking for Carole King's song "It's too late." Thanks for faving it!

  • brilliant, John! I love that song!

  • Most excellent John!!! Touching lyrics.... Im sure a lot of people can relate to it.... I know I can from when I was younger.... I enjoyed it a lot:) jackie

  • Thanks Jackie! Glad ya liked it, and even if I can't relate to all of it, I certainly have had my share of regrets over poor decisions. I guess that's life.

  • You are a superb songwriter John. This song may not be based on actual events, but it expresses universally understood feelings.

  • Thanks Jimmy! I've known a lot of folks who could have written this song from personal experience. Hope they don't think I'm judging them too harshly if they hear this.

  • This really shows your superb talent at writing when it's not from personal experience!! It's hard enough when you've experienced this kind of self-examination!

I especially liked the "castles built too close to the water" line!!!

  • Thanks Ray! Yea, It may be a fictitious song, but I've built my share of castles by the water line in my time. I hope I learned a thing or two though.

  • Wow !...Johnny !! Great song man...awesome recording...cool vid too...glad yer brain was lookin for a new idea...excellent tune bro...Always a treat when you upload a new one !! Cheers !*****

  • You have a very keen understanding of human nature, John. I love to hear you write outside of your own experience. It's a beautiful song. Maybe if I land in a different place, I'll be a different man. That is marvelous. Into my favorites. Love this one. ~NAncy

  • Thanks Nancy! I appreciate that and I'm glad ya liked it! I have to use my imagination a bit sometimes otherwise I wouldn't have too much to write about. I could relate to the parts of the songs about certain regrets and figuring stuff out after the fact.

  • I really like this kind of music John, the song´s wonderful!

    Rick
