I've travelled to Montalcino a few times. I stayed at the hotel Il Giglio, which I would stay at again, although it helps if you know some Italian and don't mind a professional demeanor at first from the staff.
For me the town is the crown of the earth. Valdicava is my favorite producer there, although I am also fond of Il Poggione.
I'd like to go back and visit some wineries, or take a bike around the countryside.
