@WEINBAUER Mercyhurst has already lost 2-3 of their scholarshipped freshman due to the new PSU team. That's the one thing PSU can capitalize on right now, since they are a new program they can talk to NCAA rostered players.
So say I'm a top hockey player in AAA or Prep School because I didn't choose a CHL career and now I want to play college 2A. Why would I want to play at Penn State when next year they're going to be playing an independent ACHA schedule? It just doesn't make sense to sacrifice a year in 2A when I could go to an already established program.
@later66 there playing NCAA D1 in 2012, if you have better D1 offers out of AAA good for you. Normally though you'll have to light it up in Jr.A, or average 2 points a game in prep to get any offers.
@later66 top players don't play at colleges that have teams in the acha, they play at schools that have ncaa d1 teams, which psu will have in 2012. i can guarantee that psu will have a respectable program from the get go. penn state is a brand name and a big ten school where kids and recruits want to play for
Can't wait until you show Penn State what a real college hockey team looks like! At this rate Michigan hockey fans may outnumber Penn State hockey fans for the first game in State College.
