From Wikipedia :" On 8 March 1965, 3,500 U.S. Marines were dispatched to South Vietnam. This marked the beginning of the American ground war" This is where the majority of the casuaties came from and why the war was so hated. Also per wikipedia: U.S. military involvement ended on 15 August 1973 as a result of the Case–Church Amendment passed by the U.S. Congress.

Since when does Al Qaeda need to regroup in Afghanistan in order to orchestrate attacks? "Push" them out of one place and they'll start up somewhere else. You don't need full scale operations to keep tabs on those assholes. It wasn't "boots on the ground" that found bin Laden after all.

By advocating anything other than an immediate withdrawal from any and all foreign wars until such time as there is a Declaration, Senator Udall is in violation of his Oath of Office to protect and defend the Constitution and is a traitor.

It only allows foreign deployments. If some shooting is involved, it is still foreign deployment. Also, nowhere in the Constitution does it say, "if violated, the US must pussy out, run like schoolgirls and tell everyone in the world the US is full of cowards." Learn something about law before criticizing it.

Suppose the Chinese put troops on American soil calling it a "foreign deployment." Would the United States not correctly see this as an act of war?

Similarly any country in which the United States currently has troops. Or are you suggesting that there is a different set of standards to be applied within the United States as opposed to a foreign country?

In the United States, a declaration by Congress is Constitutionally mandated before American troops may engage in warlike activities such as deployment to other countries.
