  • This is a great video. I have been throwing about two years, and this really works.

    Thanks

  • Greaat video! Do you let the tops dry in the bottoms so they dry at the same rate or is that not a problem? Thanks! Deb K

  • Great tip about doing the lids first. Thanks, Tim.

  • Could you please demo a casserole dish and or soup turine with a lid?

  • B4 I forget. What do you use to cut out the designs in the credit cards? I have a set of heavy black-handled scissors but they tend to cause the cards to splinter. Would a pair of wire cutters do the trick? I say wire cutters b/c DH has a pair I can use if it will cut without splintering the card. I'm keeping all the cards I can to make ribs out of them as well as templates too though I hope to find a template online w/rib designs to cut from that are already ready. I've not found any yet.

  • I tried the lid that sits in the galley of the pot but for some reason I can't get the knob on top to center correctly. Also, the area that I pull to actually sit on the galley edge will not sit straight either. The lid turns out well, you know it is a lid but it is all a tad off center. The clay is centered but somehow I cannot pull off the hump and make it remain centered. Any ideas? I'd appreciate it.

  • practice and patience it may have taken me years to be able to do it. i use the cards that are sent as junk mail they are lighter and softer, so no splinters.

  • I tried this today and it works really well. I am concerned about the top being so heavy because it's solid. Any suggestions?

  • i trim everything so I would trim the lid. You can also just practice cutting the bottom off coser and throwing them thinner.

  • WOW! what a ton of information, Thank you. Can you apply this technique to larger pieces?

  • Nice tip for easy measuring, Tim. What a clever dude you are! A great idea for quick smaller pots with lids that are all the same size. So, after watching this, I wondered if you did the same thing but wanted a bigger measuring template, maybe use a plastic gallon milk jug and cut out a large flat side and use that like the credit

card. It might work the same way for something a little bigger. What do you think?

  • That would work if your milk platic was stiff enough. In Addition you can make a simple guage with a coat hanger. bent it to the size you need and use it for quality control.
