@theophancecily It started out as a Duvel Clone. But, morphed into a little something different. You're right, this beer will be quite different now. That's what happens when homebrewing. More ideas pop into your head during the fermentation process. It's still chilling in the carboy. 35*F-40*F
whenyou did the irish stout you left in primary two weeks then bottled? i have no way of cold storageinthe hot climate of florida the best i csn do is keep it 22 c will this be ok?
I love the thermometer, it looks like it has Fahrenheit and Celsius, just did 2 belgians myself...one need some help, picked up some off flavors....perfect temp for fermentation
@immolateus Thanks. The stick on thermo has both C* and F*. I picked up a couple at Midwest Supplies. They had them on sale for $1.25 each. They may still be on sale. I thought it would be a good time to try a Belgian Ale since the temps have cooled way down. Used WLP 575 yeast. Says it's a combination of three different Belgian yeast strains.
I have this Coopers Irish Stout in the fermenter right now. Its been sitting for a full month. I did it with Dry Malt and some dextrose per the recipe on the can. But I only topped up the fermenter for about 18 L so that condensed it a little more. I'm also going to bottle it on Monday. It should be good. I plan to age that one for a while. I'm not the biggest stout drinker on the planet so aging should be easy.
@weirdbeer It's a great beer in my opinion. Just had some . Been aging 6 months. Really chocolatey and coffee tastes. Darn close to a Guinness. Thanks for the comment!! Cheers!
Just sanitized , filled and capped. Just make sure to line up the cap nice and square to the threads on the bottle and give it a tight turn. It works. Yes, the original cap.
Fruit juice in a Duvel clone? Amber DME? I think you're going to wind up with something wildly different than Duvel. Do let us know how it turns out.

Wow I didnt realise you can reuse screw top bottles and their caps. Do you just fill em up and twist back on the original cap?
djscalo 1 year ago
@djscalo Also, after you twist the cap back on, you can firm it up with your bottle capper to make sure you have a snug seal. Seems to work ok.
