hi it's great and i'm planning on making one myself but i have two questions ; where do you get the pitch/mod wheel and how do you make the contacts for the keys? thanks
It is hard to say because a lot of it came broken devices or salvaged parts, so the cost was really low but I did have to spend time finding and assembling. In fact the only thing I purchased new was a voltage regulator (about a dollar) and the midi conversion kit from highly liquid.
Yeah, really stunning, a steampunk Mini! I love it!
I have desinged a papercraft synth, the MiniPaperMoog, you can download the pdf on several Moog related forums, just google "mini paper moog" or "papercraft moog"
Very creative...more inspiration to my side! I didn't think a sequencer would be too complicated to build...you simplified it very well. Would love to see the finished project.
Mr. Synder, this is awesome! Did you have this when you were teaching sound design this last spring at NNU? If so why didn't you bring this into class?! Keep up the good work man.

This. Is. Fantastic! I'm very impressed. I'd love to have the schematic for the chained 4017 chips if you have a link

can you send me the schematics?

@Trifu22 I am sorry but I never wrote down any schematics for this synth. I just sort of haphazardly modified and built as I went along.

Do you say "Sine Wave" at 0:22?

@SupermarketSurvivor Yes, and then square wave, saw wave, as I was switching the oscillator but you cant hear me.

you designed this yourself? Any plans to lay out the schematics somewhere on the net?

Very nice work.
I have built a few simple synths and am working on a complete design that only uses dip8 chips to make it easy to build.
I have one demo up the "clairol synth demo"

it is a 4049, but I could have used a 4069 but I almost used a 4069.

well done :)

Wow! That sounds great!
Definitely keep up the good work, hopefully one day I'll have the skills to build something like that.

You could build the VCO + noisegen + filter + 4017 based seq yourself too. It's not that hard...

Hey Brandon.
I just started to figure out how to build the electronic circuits this past october, so this is a brand new thing.
