  • this is my all time fav song... i could listen it for hours... every day... awesome ;-)

  • the first time i listened to this song i was on drugs and its like the world stopped, and i became one with a mass of energy, i felt like i was melting listening to frusciante's voice

such an awesome and unique experience, like floating in the space

  • This is beyond normal human understanding, you cant put something like this into words, its just unbelievable,i fall into another dimension, the guitar solo is so full of emotions, its like the guitar is crying

  • my favorite song from john. wish it was longer

  • who are other musicians playing on this song?

  • @k0stil just john as far as i know. i could be wrong though

  • @BradRHCP

    then who says 1,2,3,4?

    definatly not john

  • @k0stil what time in the song does someone say 1,2,3,4?

  • @BradRHCP

    listen to the album version.

    this version is cutted.

watch?v=lI5oYe7Dk7E - right in the beginning somebody who is definatly not john says "1,2,3"

  • @BradRHCP

    check out the album version.

right in the beginning of the song somebody says "1,2,3".

doesn`t sound like john at all.

  • he actually did write this when he was around 17.. 18, but released it on Smile from the Streets you Hold.

  • Awesome song! And to think John was 17 when he recorded it...

I wonder what "Fuck You to Jose" sounded like...

  • Ehm, no, he was 27, he was born in 1970.

  • Yes, he released "Smiles" when in 1997, but only three or four songs on the album were actually recorded after he left the Chili Peppers. "Height Down", for example was originally scheduled to be on Niandra LaDes. Most Frusciante fansites state the he recorded this song in 1987 or 1988.

  • Oh, sorry, I didn' know ;)

  • No problem. Yeah, "Smiles" is just a weird album because it collects songs from all over the place. Basically it consists of everything John had left his vault that he could sell for drugs. A lot of it is pretty good, though. :-)

  • @Meeper27 I really really wonder what other songs that were on a tape/s in a cupboard sounded like before they burned down in his old hollywood house. He said one/few were like A Fall Thru The Ground. :(

  • @Meeper27 haha yea i wish i could hear fuck you to jose!

  • @Meeper27 The year was 1997, john was 27

  • @mrsbrench he recorded little to no music during those days. with the exception of a few songs ( like enter a uh ), he used many of his 1988-1992 songs on Niandra and Smile.

  • @Meeper27 this was off Smile from the streets you hold, many of the songs off niandra were written when he was 17, not this album :S

  • man, that sounds too much like those porn movie soudtracks from the eighties.. I´m serious, Im not gonna put the link here, but theres a track that sounds exact the same no kidding

  • I think this is one of his best songs. Haunting, well-constructed, and in 7/4 no less!

  • sorry for my ignorance... what's 7/4? :S

  • a time signature, the norm is 4/4, and 7/4 is difficult to keep time in for most people

  • 7/4 is the time signature for the song. Most songs are in 4/4, where the beat would go, "One two three four, one two three four". In this song, the beat goes to seven before repeating. A nifty trick.

  • ahm ok, got it, thx nice to know for a self-taught. thx guys ;)

  • I try to play this on piano and the 7/4 totally throws me way off, but it makes the song really unique and memorable.

  • the album was released in 1997, but songs were recorded previously

  • I think this is a very cool song and I like very much! just like the rest of smile, but doesn't anyone else thinks this sounds "tonight" by Iggy pop?

I'm not trying to say that he stole it from iggy, but I just stumbled across the similarity

  • are john gonna have a show. He said that he was going to have a show within two months?

  • one of my favourites

  • what a BEAUTIFUL song

    the best of Frusciante

  • this was created in 1988

  • Love the guitar solo for this song.

  • realy its good and beautiful i love john frusciante !!

  • 2 mins of concentrated fucking greatness... a greatness that many search in a whole career, but never achieve...

  • the best!

  • barby john te la canta a ti xD

  • ya no soy Barby para vos

  • si aun eres my barby

    t.q.m

  • Luv you Pin...

  • y yo ati te quiero como a nadie gracias por ser como eres

  • escucho ésto y me agarra una tristeza...

  • i looove his voice here!!!! so young!

  • if he recorded this with 17 years old..he was a genious since then...it´s a great song

  • The best one!!!!!

  • he was 27 when he recorded it, but it doesnt matter how old he was, he was a genious all the time (for example the "niandra lades and usually just a t-shirt" or the 2 ecords he made with the chilis before that)

  • this album was released when he was 27, but this song was recorded earlier than that, I believe.

  • John Frusciante once said that most of the songs on "Smile from the Streets..." he recorded between the age of 13 and 18 ... Bu because this song is just so different from all of the others on that album I think no one (not even Frusciante himself) can say when he really recorded it.

  • I think this is the first song John ever wrote.. This or 'Unknown' from VPRO '94 interview. I'm not sure now.

  • the first song he wrote was "Fuck You to Jose"

  • This is neither of those.

  • Yeah, 'Fuck You To Jose' is the first. I remembered.

  • age 17

  • i think he recorded a fall thru the ground during the sessions for blood sugar sex magik

  • This song was recorded in 1988 sweetie.

  • really? isnt it from 1997?

  • Sure isnt.

  • its actually from 1988

  • The rapid strumming high-reverbed-out guitar in the background makes me feel like I'm underwater.

  • How come your versions of this album have really low treble?

  • im the beast man so understand me

  • amen.

  • this song makes my spine shiver..love it!

  • the solo starting at :50 is amazing

  • yeah excactly! just how it comes up... it's like it flows out of the music...

  • it´s like i want to cry in that part but is so moving that i can´t...i can´t describe what makes me feel....

  • I agree. Like, when I am in the car..driving, and this song is playing and the world is existing in its own reality outside of me, those two beautiful moments collide and make this epic , beautiful, spiritual moment that transcends everything and only you and that moment exist for that time..sends chills throughout my whole body and becomes like a drug..I want that moment over and over and over and over and more and more and more.

  • sorry i just gave you a thumb's down instead of a thumbs up.

    please forgive my mistake.

i just really dig your thoughts

  • i know this may sound strange and believe me, i respect ur thoughts lesterluigi, but do you believe in God?

  • should had been on faces of death soundtrack its fuckn badass

  • sounds kinda weird but at the same time its alright and can tell he was younger here by the voice

  • john recorded this when he was 17, before he joined the peppers

  • oup yes correct, srry. he added this song in the CD but the CD is actually from '97 =)

  • great song!

  • It's like gentle babyoilmassage in your tummy. Thank you humble person, thank you.

  • thank you so much
