Thnx for the upload dude! As a guy from The Netherlands (Europe) I was there at the STS-129 launch last November...oh boy...I'm really really glad that I saw this in real life once. I hope the US Goverment will change there mind and will support the NASA to keep the Space Shuttle al life!
the best video from an amateur i've seen of this launch, i think this my favorite night-time. awesome colors in it. i like how the dude said "oh yeah". that was funny! thanks for sharing your video to us!
I'm glad you commented on the lift off confirmation. They went slightly early. If you watch my video you can hear the people with a slight confusion as to the lift off at that moment, and no count down being heard. It's like they had speakers pointed only one direction or something :)
yeah ... liftoff on the video was at 0:18, but you can hear the faint radio broadcast of liftoff confirmed at 0:38 ... moral of the story - don't blink at T minus 1 minute because it's on the cusp of launching (or being scrubbed as per the day before)
NIce Video - the launch was awesome! I shot it from about 13 miles with a Sony DSC-H20 camera. I like how your video came out with the light on the water. Thanks for posting it!
Commercial radio (AM, FM) broadcasts invariably use tape delay and "dump buttons" that cause their audio to be 20-30 seconds behind reality. Suggest to all who come to watch the last four shuttles that they bring an ordinary Radio Shack (or similar) police scanner radio. Tune it to 146.940 Mhz and listen to live NASA audio of the countdown (including air to ground and engineering chat) with no delay -- courtesy of the Central Brevard County Amateur Radio Club. :]
So much power, so intense, night becomes day ... waw
