Why is the M3 in this category with its price of 72k? I mean, I understand that some of the cars (IE. the CTS-V and Vette) are a couple thousand over 60k, but 12k more? M3 should be categorized in LL4 IMO.
People here are forgetting that Virginia Speedway is a track that exploits power due to the dramatic differences in elevation. Naturally the torque-less Japanese cars are going to suffer and the potent FI cars are going to shine.
It would be a completely different story this test were at a tight, flat track. Still is an awesome test though because most tracks aren't like the downhill touge circuit.
though the cadillac destroys it on the track and does have a quite good interior it is sooooo ugly with that body kit especially next to the drop dead gorgeous s5. Id take the Audi in a heartbeat. Though if someone gave me the caddy for free id still be blissful (atleast inside it while driving).
Agreed. The V should have been a little more subtle. The higher-trim 300+ hp version of the CTS is much better looking. The S5 looks better than both IMO. Even though it gets absolutely destroyed by the CTS-V. Can't argue with the Caddy's mind-blowing performance for a sedan. And I have to say I kinda like hearing about it destroying M5s and other German performance sedan icons.

I think this test is compltely misleading. I know the performances of almost all the cars, and the fact that 3 american cars remain the quickest after this test i just cant believe. Cobalt, CTS and the Corvette. Come on? - Try another track and/or some european drivers maybe?

yeah i totally agree with you. the driver is very sloppy and overall not great at all and is obviously favoring the american cars and not making this track test any worthy
ya everything is a conspiracy when it doesnt go the way you want it to isnt it? maybe it'll chance your mind to know that half of the Car and Driver editors and staff are European. And as a long time reader of car and driver, I know for a fact they have been just as tough on american made cars as other foreign publications.
Civic?=2900lbs? that thing needs a diet, and is the perfect example of how Honda is making even better, higher HP engines than before, but with all newly gained weight, it means nothing.
And the price is just outrageous, why would you get this if you could get a EVO or somehing else for the same money.
Im a long time Honda Fan, but im not sure where their going with this.
you said the "LL2 class" was for cars between 30 and 60k so whats with the m3 coming in at 73,000? thats not fair and your comparing it to a Honda civic....
Es un poco penoso hacer una comparativa con coches tan distantes , tanto en precio como en prestaciones y en todo -1 punto para los chicos de car and driver
Let me tell you that most of the people who test and review these cars can't afford any of them besides the LL1 class. Should they not share their opinions either?
Can anyone go to VIR and use the track for fun for a fee or sth? Sort of like the nurburg ring in Germany or is VIR completely closed off from the public? Thanks
lol It sure does. I still can't belive those stacked tips aren't even part of the exhaust system. Ferarri California will be the same way. Oh well I hate Lexus and Ferarri anyway.

the performance figures are closer to a BMW 335i than to an M3 and the tail is way to happy, + 7 speed gearbox is way too many for a car like that
