  • @LegendCorridor I was born in '91 and still kept the Zelda I and Zelda II cartridges that my older brothers owned.

And the first time I defeated this game was when I sat at the back of Psychology class in first year university. Good times.

  • Why is all video game music so good?? The new stuff is good; nothing beats original nintendo misic!

  • @LegendCorridor how about if you were born in 1992 but your brother gave you a nes and snes when you were three and you grew up on these :P

  • Yhea!!! Me too!!!

  • Wow, your so pro at this

  • One of the best games ever created by mankind :')

  • Zelda series and Castlevania series have the best soundtrack in gaming history

  • Entry 29? Should be number 1. . .

  • Is there any download link for this classic game?

  • @JimKav1 You can always download an emulator. There's plenty of ROM and emulator sites.

  • @yamomwa3 Thanx but I already have an emulator. The only thing I need is an ORIGINAL ROM of this game. I can't find this original "Legend of zelda" game which was released in 1986...

  • @JimKav1 If I come across it, I'll send you the link. I found it, but I had it for a few years, I don't remember where I found it

  • @JimKav1 q

I have it, gold cartridge....and my original NES from when I was a kid

  • @JimKav1 To finish my comment, they have emulators for a bunch of classic systems, like NES, SNES, Game Boy, etc.

  • I dont have the slightest idea when I last played this game was. Fifteen years or more I'm sure. My eight year old self is very disappointed in how his adult self forgot so much of this game.

  • beautiful game with beautiful memories

  • garudoh, thankyou for putting up all these videos. I love you <3 in a nerd loves nerd sort of way. XD

  • Everybody, i mean EVERYBODY gotta love the Zelda music. It's freaking amazing!

  • It's a secret to everybody (Give me yo change bitch)

  • @wutaii1 XD

  • 1:42 is my favorite part

  • Is it weird If I tingle a little bit as we go through the songs?

  • at 3:28 what is the name of that piece of music in the game.

  • Labyrinth/Underworld theme

  • Wow I love this kind of stuff. Talk about a "Throwback".. They should re make this version.. But this time we can use a memory card LOL

  • @joeret28 HECK YES. I would love that!!!!! I still have my original NES and this game, but it keeps erasing it's memory. =P

  • @ILUV412 that means you need to replace the battery , its not to hard to do, its really just like an ear battery XD

  • @y2k4ever1 Ah okay XD

  • Eastmost Penissula isthe key

  • FLASHBACK. Where did my life go?

  • Oh man this takes me back!

  • I've never listened to anything past like 4 seconds of the death music...until now that is

  • I want this at my funeral as they're carrying the coffin in!

  • @BigGayBear2007 PAHAHA, I totally agree. I will accept no other song

  • Nintendo's--and probably the world's--best video game franchise ever made

  • Whats the name of this fucking great song ??

  • Fine Asian wife lushfmlk.info

  • He got bombs on the first blue Octorock... LUCKY!

  • Best Part 2:30 - 3:17

    greetings from Brazil!

  • 2 fags who didnt have a nice childhood :D

  • this is being played on the GC zelda collection, it's all i play on :P

  • YES!! the most famous musical piece ever.

You think of zelda you think of this AAAAH!! the good old days.

Boy do i miss these games.

  • Classic. Absolute. Classic.

  • In my opinion, this is the most LEGENDARY video game ever made!!

I went out and bought a Gamecube, years ago, just so I could play this again. Turns out I should've just bought an old console, or waited for the virtual console. I didn't care though. Just to able to play this game again, after 20 years was worth the $100 I paid for that Gamecube

  • @GialloHorror It is a great game, I really loved the one on super nes too, kept the feel, the other ones not so much..

  • @GialloHorror Except for the fact that this wasn't on the GameCube, I agree with your comment.

  • @seanmclachlan It came with a gamecube, years ago. It was both Zelda and Zelda II.

Since I'd, long since, gotten rid of my NES, I did not have either game anymore. It was a chance to play it again, before the Wii came out and added a virtual console to it's options

  • @GialloHorror Don't forget OoT and MM!!

  • @GialloHorror emulators are hard

  • Why does it say 1987 - 2003 on the title? Since when was it made in 2003??

  • @batursi Since Nintendo decided that one of their most popular games of all time deserved a non-atrocious English translation and re-released it on the GameCube Collector's Disc, GBA, and Virtual Console, that's when

    PRINCE DARKNESS ¨GANON¨

  • ...Ok, so apparently this guy used pictures that I guess WEREN'T recorded from the NES one?

  • @batursi GC or VC probably, aye. Emulated NES with grammar corrected 20 years later is NES enough for me.

  • it's dangerous to go alone

  • @SuperLlama53 Take ME with you!

  • You skipped level 1 and 2...

Anyone know why that level's map is shaped like a swastika btw? :P (Don't give me that "Japanese, Buddhaism bs" to prove you've read a book please ;) )

  • @Incizor1 But that's exactly it. I see you've read a book. Very good.

  • @Incizor1 It is a manji. Seriously.

  • sounds a lot like second generation pokemon, too. XD

  • 1:42 and up it sounds like super mario bros part 2 for nes lol

  • oh yeah! I hear it. lol

  • holy shit ya

  • The Famicom Disk System version of this game had even more awesome sounding music.

  • I love this game.

...though I haven't played it yet xD

  • I love the music so much, I bought the soundtrack for this game: Zelda The Music.

  • great songs !!!!! remember zelda just like when im a child

  • Squadellah! We are off!

  • when i was playing the theme to this on the piano, my cousin said i sucked and can you only play video game music?

    have you heard her music?:)

  • Not the most technically advanced music from the NES but it is still one of the best. Love Zelda music.

  • @mnl1121 not supposed to be technical, it's "epic adventure" style music...

  • @mnl1121 It's a little different on Famicom Disk.

  • One of teh best games ever made. Period.

  • Zelda games and castlevania games have always had the best music ever.

  • and double dragon, ducktales, batman, megaman, kirby.. the list goes on

  • It seems to me that you've played this once or twice... :-)

  • man this guy is good lol now im going to have to dig out the nintendo

  • The Zelda series has the greatest music in the history of video games. Hands Down! From Zelda 1 to Twilight Princess! None can compare! HAIL ZELDA!!!

  • HEAR HEAR!!!

  • This is the only Zelda game I ever played. =) Great music, no matter what you compare it too.

  • Say what you will about how old video games stack up to new games, in my mind games like the original zelda will never be surpassed. They were so much fun to play. Kids today play video games so seriously that it seems more like work than fun.

  • Garudoh, if you add the "_%28video_game%29" to the end of the Wikipedia link, it will link directly to the game's article rather than the series article. ;)

  • love all the zelda games so much!! <3<3

  • fascinating

  • memories

  • lol, I rember beating like 6 or 8, at the start one time, lol I almost have a spirtul contection to the old zelda music

  • This is what all warriors strive for, MAH BOI. I still have my old cartridge slapped in the SNES.. so great.

  • Hats off to you Koji San!!

  • It took me and my brother like, 6 hours straight to finish it.

    Soo fun (:

  • SO LEET

  • I'm 11, and I never got to play this game, and my nostolgic memory is filled with Ocarina Of Time and (My Favorite) Majora's Mask. I'm just glad I got to enjoy the N64 games when I was little... My older brother had an N64, so I played it a lot when the controller fit my hand... good times...

I still wish I could experience the game where it all began... *Sigh*

  • Comment removed

  • Why the thumbs down? I was just saying that I never experienced the game...

  • There's plenty of ways to play this game ;)

There's the Wii virtual console, Zelda Collector's edition for the Gamecube, finding a used NES and copy of the game, emulation...there's plenty of ways to play this game.

  • NES Games have the catchiest music

  • I miss that game!

  • Ahh, the game where all the magic started. Simply incredible.

  • Koji Kondo (Nintendo Games Composer) FTW !!!!

  • You gotta love Koji!

  • PRO ~

  • Zelda collector's edition ftw

  • i have it :3

  • best game ever ~

  • "Dodongo dislikes smoke"

No, dodongo dislikes BOMBS GOING OFF IN HIS STOMACH LIKE EVERYONE ELSE.

  • @BLARGHALT

if he didn't eat it and it went off in his face, he'd be stunned too.

  • @BLARGHALT Actually, Dodongo does dislike smoke! Just a bomb near its mouth leaves him paralized and vulnerable to swords. Less expensive than feeding him several bombs

  • @BLARGHALT If the Dodongo walks into the smoke, he gets stunned and you can kill it in one hit with your sword in the belly.

  • @BLARGHALT It's dangerous to go alone... :D

  • best vgm of all time its my #1

  • Oh man I remember the first time I stepped into Level 9 and the doors opened...the music said to me "oh CRAP I'm about to get my ass kicked".

  • Legend of Zelda has such a great music.

  • one of the all time great games!

  • There really isn't much to say. This game was LEGEND! period. That nice shiny golden cartridge, the spectacular and memorable music, and that unique 'new' 4 way scrolling made possible by the brand new MM1 chip. Wow, this game was the greatest!

  • Don't forget one of (if not the) first games to use a saving system!

  • BOMBS KILL DARKNUT!?!

  • DINNER

  • MAH BOI

  • did somebody finish this game??

  • i did in the 80s

  • niceeeeeeeeee

  • I loved this game! One of very few games that I had to stop for a few years and come back later to due to being completely unable to figure it out. I musta burned every tree, pushed every block, blown the whistle in every area, and attempted to walk through every wall, twice. :) Took a few years to realize durr, pay the gypsy.

  • The game that shaped my childhood! The only games I love more than this is LoZ: Link to the Past, Super Mario Bros. 3, and Chrono Trigger.

    Zelda forever!!!

  • Great nostalgia...reminds me of hangin' out and plaing NES all night at a budies house till 3am then watchin' scinemax until his mom busted us. Never forget ya Charlie and Nick.

  • I remember my neighbor and I played this really late one night and watched some movie he recorded on BETAMAX...and the movie was Fatal Attraction. :P Good times, OLD times...god I feel ancient.

  • you mean SKIN-a-max?

  • music doesnt get any better then this.....

    stuff like this right here....

hold SO many warm memories for millions of ppl....

thats what music should be like!

  • I remember buying this when it first came out and calling nintendo to ask for hints, and my friends and I playing this for a month to find everything and beat it!

  • Oh the memories, i got my first Nes (Yeah first i have bought many when i got older on yardsells) one christmas so i remember sitting in the living room under a huge blanket playing this game and outside the was this huge blizzard, aww must say that gaming was way better in the 80s early 90s

  • Man the memories these songs bring up are priceless....

  • As a zelda fan im sad i wasted many years as kid NOT playing this game, it wasnt released in my country :(

  • Where do you live?

  • The intro to the Zelda theme should have been in EVERY game, not just this and Twilight Princess... well, that and Brawl & Wind Waker, but still.....

  • what happens at 1:52? That's not how that song goes. There's no bass or anything in my NES cart.

  • Comment removed

  • You must have never finished the game, because that's the ending theme.

  • Mah Boi!This game is what all true Nes fans for!

  • i just can't wait to bomb some dodongos!

  • Great! I'll grab my stuff!

  • That Old Ganon is no match for THE KING!!!!!!!

  • mah boi! this peace is what all true warriors strive FOR!!

  • ENOUGH! My Ship Sails In The Morning.

    I WONDER WHAT'S FOR DINNER!!!

  • Oh boy! I'm so hungry, I could eat an Octorok!

  • Enough! My ship sails in the morning!

  • a question: In the title screen puts : 1987 - 2003 nintendo... WTH 2003?!

  • That's because the footage is taken from the Zelda compilation disc released for Gamecube.

  • Did you know the music quality was much better in japan? search famicom zelda music and i think you will find it...

  • Aside from the opening track that's beefed up a bit, the differences aren't that significant. Same goes for Metroid too, which is too bad.

  • Well, the opening REALLY much differs actually...

  • @garudoh

the gameplay you show, are they speed runs?

  • What Memories... I spent most of 7th Grade trying to beat Legend of Zelda with the help of my friend Rick Fish!

  • that game is the game of all game.

No publisher will be able to do someday best than Zelda 1

  • Best. Zelda. Game. Ever!

And I've played all of them, but when I played this as a little kid on my NES, my life was never the same.

And every time I play this now, I still fall in love all over again...

  • I love the dungeon theme <3 thats pure awsomeness

  • this was gta before gta existed.

  • One of, if not the first video game I ever completed, and at the young age of 5. Putting all my elder brothers, some who were nearly 20 at the time, to shame. This and Sonic the Hedgehog practically changed my life forever.

  • That's awesome! I was 4 when I beat this game. For some reason whenever I tell people this they think I'm like a videogame pro,but TLOZ isn't that hard.

  • \m/

  • Cool

  • I used to have nightmares as a kid of the hands that would pop out of the walls and take you back to the beginning of the dungeon.

  • Good to see, that I'm not the only one!

  • I was born on the day this game came out in America.

  • You must be the chosen one then.

  • Fated to lead us to the fabled Virtual Reality.

  • Hahaha, you guys are funny.

  • This game had such an impact on my young life.

  • the best one second to zelda iii =) imo

  • the best music of videogames

  • 4:16-4:25 link victory theme in brawl?

  • Uh, no... It's the Triforce theme in the original Legend of Zelda.

  • after beating it, create a new man and enter your name as ZELDA at the beginning and the game will be all changed around..pretty cool

  • Actually, you can do that to access the "Second Quest" at any time, not just after beating the game. However, if you do beat it, the second quest will open up for that file anyway, and the file select screen will show Link holding up a sword.

  • The beginning theme brought a tear to my eye just now. Sigh, never again will I get to ever live those glorious years. Love the music.

  • I love retro music, and things more than what we have now a days. GIVE ME BACK THE 80, 90! BAH!

  • Really good.

Love the music from this. :)

  • one word CLASSIC

  • Uhh, how do you go to the save screen like that? lol
