Looking for a live version of Black Magic Woman from the early 70's. At this particular show Mr. Santana kicks on his wah pedal at the start of the jam at the end of the song. Freaking killer. Anyone know what I'm talking about? Anyone know what show this was so I can try to download it?
@lizardking3 It's D minor, only the bass lines go pentatonic, I think (I'm not a guitar player, but I know how to play it on organ....). Try seventh, ninth or even thirteenth of Dm.
can anyone explain why santana was so popular in japan? theres a great live album from like '70 or around then recorded in japan that has all of the great songs from that era of santana.
why i do i have to grow up in a time period where everyone is so lazy about music...Jesus Christ! i need people who are passionate enough to create!!!!!!
@ahartnack Exactly, but what Santana did, he made himself the soloist and sucked the success off his band which did not really belong to him as a person. Great music anyway :-))
@bolijack and his band doesn't mind because they still play with him if not regulair than a few times each year. don't forget Santana on Guitar can be the number 2 or 3 in the world and issen't because he doesn't make pure rock but everything he makes is Fusion
Kennzeichen D - Das Deutschland-Magazin. Der erste Song auf der ersten Platte. Großartig :-)

Someone needs to put a freeze frame of Santana's face at 4:30 on a shirt now so I can buy it please.

Jeez, look at that 'fro that Neal Schon is sporting! If this is '71, then he's only 17 years old here, trading solos with Carlos.

The best thing about this band was that even though Santana was the front man, he was not the star.
They were all the stars of the band in the sense that everyone had their solos within most songs.
That made them great.
